Have you noticed yet that more and more people around the world want to work from home and make money online?

Have you ever wished you could just wake up whenever you want, have a cup of coffee, turn on your computer, work for a couple of hours online, and then spend your time with your family and hobbies? Indeed, working from home gives a lot of benefits, freedom and income.

However, many people wrongfully think that making good money online requires a website and huge investment. Here’s a fact: you can start making hundreds of dollars per month within weeks with no upfront fees and even without a website.

How?

Affiliate marketing allows you to earn commissions for selling other people’s products or services online. As you study every word of this article you will become amazed at how easy it will be for you to get started earning cash on the Internet because you can join any affiliate network at no cost.

For example, you can join Clickbank:

http://www.webmastertools4u.com/cgi-bin/jump.cgi?ID=4

In order to learn more about marketing Clickbank products, make sure to read their website, FAQs and information in your member’s area.

Then go to Clickbank’s "Marketplace" and browse the categories that interest you. When you find a product that interests you, visit it’s pitch page and read the sales letter. I even suggest you buying the product that interests you. You’ll understand why this will increase your affiliate earnings by the time you finish reading this article.

When you find a product that you would like to promote, press on the "Create Hoplink", enter your nickname that you have entered when joining Clickbank and create your affiliate link (hoplink) which you will be marketing on the Internet at no cost.

In order to make money online, you’ll have to promote your affiliate link by using any of the 3 methods that don’t require a website:

1) Forum posting

2) Article writing

3) Pay-per-click (PPC) search engine marketing

But before you can start using any of the above methods, I must warn you that each of them requires your time and work. If you think that it’s easy money, you’d better go watch TV or keep browsing the Internet.

But let me confess something: If you are like me, and if you are ready to put some time and effort, in the next few minutes you’re going to learn how to transform your life and start making cash on the Internet by marketing affiliate programs.

Marketing your affiliate link via forums

One of the easiest ways for beginners to earn affiliate commissions is to post comments in forums related to the product that you have chosen to market.

Now follow my path. All you have to do is go to your favorite search engine and find online forums related to the theme of your product. Create an account at each forum. Then go to update your profile and create a signature with your Clickbank hoplink. You can do that later after you have done some comment posting and see how other marketers use their links in their signatures.

Then you should browse the topics where you can provide useful tips and answers to the questions that people ask. If you have bought the product that you want to promote and you are happy with it, you should tell others about it’s benefits and how it helped you.

Consider this that it’s not enough to post a couple of comments and expect to earn thousands in commission. You should select several forums that interest you and keep visiting them and posting comments for at least a month. Try not to sell your product but help people. When you have posted hundreds of comments, people will treat you as an expert and the sales will start rolling in.

After you have spent some time posting comments to forums, you should notice that some topics and questions are asked again and again. If you already know how to help people, you should start writing articles and promote your affiliate links in them.

Affiliate marketing using article distribution

In order to get started you should visit some article directories, for example:

Find articles that deal with the topic of your product and read them. Notice the "Author Bio" section at the end of most articles? It’s the place where you’ll market your affiliate link too.

But before you can start marketing, you should write your article. It’s really easy. Don’t say that you cannot write. If you can post comments in forums, you can write articles!

Simply, think about helping people, about the problems they try to solve in forums.

Now take a sheet of paper and start writing. The articles don’t have to be long. Just describe the problem and how it should be solved.

Then register with some article directories, write your "Author Bio" section with your hoplink and submit your article.

For maximum results, try to write and submit at least one article per day for at least one month. If readers love your articles, they’ll visit your link and buy from you. Webmasters will publish your articles on their websites and newsletters. At the end of the month you should see some affiliate commission in your Clickbank account.

Pay-per-click search engine marketing

When you have received your first checks from Clickbank, you should consider promoting your product using pay-per-click search engines. However, notice that this method requires payment for each click and may be quite complicated for beginners.

Some PPC search engines may even give you a sign-up bonus of up to $200, so it’s worth doing a research online and signing up.

In order to increase your affiliate earnings, you should also consider learning how to mask your affiliate links and how to track which marketing methods provide the most revenue.

You should also try to join other affiliate networks and promote different products and services.

As you can see, you can start making money online quickly, even if you don’t have any money or website. Don’t give up too soon, find and read more information about affiliate marketing and your success is guaranteed!

Affiliate marketing is a way to monetize an existing website. Whether it is linked to a hobby or used as a business. If you start a small affiliate business along side your website you will earn extra income from the same website and very little effort and cost to yourself.

The way affiliate marketing works - the affiliate will place a link advertisement or banner on their own website which links to another site selling a product. Once a visitor has clicked on the advertisement or link if they purchase a product from the merchant site you will receive a portion of the sale.

Choosing a product can take some time, you need to choose a product that your visitors are actually going to be interested in. If your own site sells pet food there is no point sending your visitors to a pet food shop that sells its products for less, you will simply lose customers. You need to find another product that is attractive for the visitor but not in direct competition to you. In this case I would choose something like Pet Clothes or Pet insurance.

Most people when first starting out with affiliate marketing simply add the link to their site, but to gain more sales and visitors you can always promote the product yourself.

You could also try creating your own e-book and dropping your affiliate products into it, in the hope that somewhere along the line a sale will be made and you will see a return.

You can also promote the product by writing an article and adding the link too, if you publish your article on your site it will also add content to your site which is always an added bonus.

It will also give you lots of new ideas for your own product. Once you have run an affiliate marketing business you are bound to have lots of new and interesting ideas for creating your own products.

Affiliate marketing is based on trust and building a relationship with your visitors. Having software, an e-book, membership etc your visitors will visit your site, start to trust you and return These visitors are more likely to follow a link on your site because they trust you and trust that you think the product is good.

It is well known that people prefer to look at a website that has been referred by someone else, again this is a trust issue even though you are in fact a stranger to them.

Affiliate marketing has become the entry point for most new internet businesses it is an easy way to earn some extra money. Although it has not been proved it is said that having affiliate links on your website can carry more weight with search engines.

If you have your own site already your halfway there, all you need to do now is sign up for an affiliate product, remember not to compete with your own products. Get the link, add it too your site and encourage people to click!!!

Affiliate marketing can be a rewarding and fulfilling career. It can also be extremely frustrating and appear a daunting task for many beginners. There just seems so much to learn!

But like everything else, there is a right and a wrong way to go about it.

In my experience, it is vitally important to start off with the right information from an already successful marketer who can help you get started in the right direction. It is so easy to be diverted down this and that get-rich-quick backwater and end up suffering from information overload and achieving nothing.

Choosing the right affiliate products and finding relevant advice from experienced marketers can literally mean the difference between your success and failure.

So, the message is: Choose your affiliate partners with care!

To point you in the right direction, here are a few tips with regard to choosing affiliate products to promote and seeking advice from the experts.

(1) The successful marketers will offer you free lessons, courses and other bonuses to help you be successful. ….take the time to learn and act upon their advice. By doing so, you are laying a strong foundation for your affiliate business. Look upon all such learning as an investment in yourself and your financial future.

(2) Try to choose a product to promote that is of interest to you. And one that pays a good commission rate! ….if you’re interested in what you’re selling then your passion will show through and persuade people to buy. And when things aren’t going too well, you’re more likely to persevere until you reach your sales goals. ….make sure that the commission you’ll receive for each sale is worth banking. You don’t want to work hard for a low or mediocre return.

(3) Choose a product that has a strong demand. ….after all, you want to offer something that people want to buy. So avoid obscure products with limited markets.

(4) It is vital that your affiliate product has a powerful, professional and persuasive website or landing page. ….this is extremely important. Study the page your visitor will be sent to when they click on your link. Would it persuade you to buy? Does it immediately attract your attention? Has it got that powerful sales quality that will lead to constant sales and money in your pocket? If not, then move on.

(5) Find products offering a full refund or money-back guarantee. …this can be a powerful selling point and lead to increased sales.

(6) Take note of how often you will get paid. …from a commission viewpoint, try to choose a program that pays out every 2 weeks or monthly. Be wary of programs that ask you to wait several months before payment is made.

(7) Don’t become a PH ! (Product Hopper) …focus your efforts on one company or product. Decide upon a income goal that you want to achieve from that product (be realistic) and stick with it. When you’ve established an acceptable level of success for that program then think about your next promotion. Keep adding to your ‘bank’ of successful promotions.

(8) Decide to become a marketing expert in product promotion. …this may take you some time to achieve but first get a general overview of online (and offline) marketing techniques. Then choose one particular technique and learn how to do it successfully.

When you are satisfied with your results from that technique, then choose another and so on. Soon you will have an arsenal of proven marketing skills that you can easily call upon to market any product at any time.

(9) Finally, decide that you will NEVER GIVE UP until you have reached your long term, affiliate marketing goals. As the old saying goes, “Perseverance Always Pays.”

Good luck with all your affiliate ventures.

What do I mean by ‘2nd Wave’? Let me explain:

Can you remember the good old days when affiliate programs first came into existence in the mid to late 1990’s? Everybody jumped in with two feet and put up dozens of affiliate links on their site with no real thought to what they were doing. We then wondered why we didn’t make any money - not any real money that is.

The same thing has happened with the launch of other new industries in that the initial craze and hype got out of hand but when things quietened down people thought things through, put together business models and now succeed big time within that industry. The good news is that we, as affiliate marketers, can learn from these industries through their first and second phases.

A Definition of what a First and Second Wave is

The first wave is the pioneering stage, the launch of a new industry. There is lots of excitement and hype with most people now knowing what they are doing. There are many failures and very little profits during this period.

The second wave is the exciting phase. It has already come to light within phase 1 that there is potential within the industry. People put together long-term business plans and even ordinary people like you and I can succeed in a big way. Hence, wave 2 is when the real wealth is created.

Industry Examples of their First and Second Waves

Let’s take a look at some examples of industries in their first and second waves and the success they have achieved for thousands of people who were in the right place at the right time:

Video Cassette Recorders (VCR): Remember the first VCRs? They were huge, very expensive and not many people could afford one. In 1972 Phillips were the first to launch a VCR for home use but it didn’t appeal to the consumer market. Only a few hundred were sold.

Second wave: VHS introduced their version of the VCR in 1977 which was more appealing to the public. Prices came down and soon the average household had one. Today, DVD players are now replacing them and huge profits are being sought in this industry.

Personal Computers: In 1976 Apple launched the first PC, quickly followed by IBM with Microsoft’s DOS operating system in 1981. These PCs were slow, expensive and always seemed to crash.

Second wave: Dell and Compaq introduced new design PCs, and Bill Gates and his Microsoft Empire launched ‘Windows 1.0′ in 1985. As a result of this boom thousands of millionaires were created in a single decade.

The 1st and 2nd Wave of Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing: The first wave of the Internet and the affiliate marketing business lasted between approximately 1996-2003. All the initial hype about the World Wide Web and making money from selling other people’s stuff grew within this period. Affiliates give no real thought to their sites and put up dozens of affiliate links. Not many affiliate marketers made any real money to talk of and not many of these sites are in existence today.

Second wave: From 2003 onwards the initial hype has died down and with the introduction of new wave technology and software, means that it is now easier for the average webmaster to build a successful and useful website business to succeed long-term with big profits.

So What Does This Mean For Today’s Affiliate Marketer’s?

You are now caught up at the beginning of the 2nd wave of affiliate marketing. You are in the right place at the right time - use this to your advantage now… today… Here are some reasons why:-

· The online shopping industry is growing at a phenomenal rate

· More and more people are buying online

· The competition with affiliate sites is still relatively low as compared to what it will be like in the future

In order to get ahead of this ever-increasing competitive industry, you need to think of affiliate marketing as a business. Even go as far as writing a business plan out for your affiliate business. You need to understand that in order to get ahead of your competition and even get to the top of the search engines, you need to build a business platform for long-term success. You must think of yourself as a publisher of informational content first, then an affiliate marketer second. This is the ‘key’ to the success of the second wave of affiliate marketing. Let me repeat it again ‘you must think of yourself as a publisher of informational content first, then an affiliate marketer second’.

Summary

Realize that the Internet is still in its infancy and that you are here in the right place at the right time. This could only happen once in your life, so jump on it straight away. The first frantic phase of affiliate marketing is over and we have entered the new and exciting second phase, which is where the ‘real’ wealth is created. Remember, Bill Gates and his Microsoft Empire came into existence within the second phase of the personal computer industry - the rest is history!

Affiliate Marketing is having Affiliates do your Marketing for you. What I mean by Affiliate is someone who tells people about your product/service and you pay them for a desired response, such as a purchase.

Affiliate Marketing is one of the best ways to get the word out about your product/service.

The best way to pay Affiliates is pay per sale. This means that you only have to pay your Affiliates when they actually make a sale. This reduces your advertising costs dramatically. your Affiliates take on all the risks so you don’t have to worry about wasting your money on advertising which may not produce any results.

Using Affiliate is a very cheap way to advertise, however it is very effective. The software required to start up your own Affiliate program can cost only about $50 per month.

Then after that just wait for people to start promoting your product/service for you.

Please remember that 5% of your Affiliates will do 95% of the selling. What I mean by this is that most of your Affiliates will just sit there and do nothing. This can be countered if you teach them what to do, exactly how to do it and providing everything for them so they have to do as little work as possible.

To find out about teaching your Affiliates please see the "How To Super Charge Your Affiliates" article

You don’t have to use this form of advertising just to sell your product or service. You can also use it to grow your opt-in mailing list. This is discussed in another article.

How Much Should You Pay Your Affiliates

How much you pay your Affiliates really depends on how much your product/service costs, its profit margin, how much you’re willing to give up and what action you want to take place.

Lets say that your product is priced at $100. Lets also assume that it cost you $10 to make it. This leaves you with $90 profit.

How much of this do you want to give away to the person that made this sale possible?

Personally, I believe that you should give a rather high percentage of the profits back to the affiliate (Depending on how many sales they regularly generate), because without them, you wouldn’t have made that particular sale at all, so reward them for it.

A fairly decent reward is about 50% of the revenue generated. Your product is priced at $100 so a $50 commission is quite generous. It really depends on your other costs (such as a mortgage) you have, which would help decide on a fair commission to both you and the Affiliate.

Another factor which plays a part is how much additional advertising you do, such as pay per click. For example, if you rely solely on your Affiliates to Market for you, then you may want to reduce the commission you pay to them to help you survive. However, you may want to pay them more, to encourage them to send more sales you way. It really is a judgment call.

On the other hand, if you advertise in other ways effectively, then you can afford to pay higher commissions, because you’re not putting all your eggs in one basket.

In the end it’s all down to how greedy or generous you are. The best advice I can give you is to pay the affiliate what you think he/she deserves. Hopefully that way everyone is happy and earning their fair share.

That is the key to a successful affiliate program.

1.Join an Affiliate Program: Join programs that interest you personally. There are affiliate programs for almost any product or service you can think of so do some research and find one that is right for you. If you have a passion for your product niche it will be a whole lot easier to stay motivated and be successful.

2.Build your own website to promote your product: You will need to build a website with your own domain name (ie. homeworksolutions.biz) and pay a monthly fee for hosting as opposed to going the free route and sharing a domain (ie. yourname.homeworksolutions.biz) If you don’t know much about web design that’s quite ok. You will find there are lots of companies out there who offer very affordable website design.

3.Start a reciprocal linking campaign: Start exchanging links with other websites in your niche. You will find lots of webmasters willing to add a link to your website as long as you return the favor. The more websites that link to you, the higher page rank you will have in the search engines, therefore leading to more traffic to your website.

4.Start your own newsletter: The newsletter can simply consist of articles related to your products and website. Always add a signature containing a link to your website at the bottom of each newsletter entry. That way when people read your articles they can continue on to your website. If you don’t want to write your own articles, there are many webmasters who will let you use theirs for free. Submit your newsletter to as many websites as you can.

5.Build an Email List: Owning your own email list is one of the most important tools you can have as an affiliate marketer. The best way to build your list is to buy leads, that way you don’t have to worry about getting in trouble for spamming. Lots of companies sell quality leads (email addresses) consisting of people who have requested information about your products. With every lead you buy you can in turn sign them up for your newsletter.

6.Get an Auto Responder: With an auto responder program you can make the process of buying leads and signing them up for your newsletter completely automated. You can save hours of time with this approach.

7.Write your own Articles: To be successful with affiliate marketing you will eventually have to write an article or two. This may sound a bit overwhelming in the beginning, but after you have been building your business for awhile you will get into it. Always include a signature at the bottom of the article containing your website link. Then post your article on as many websites as you can. A search for ‘article directories’ in any search engine will give you lots of places to start.

8.Add an Article page to your website: Post all of your articles on this page and any others you find related to your niche. Having an article page will add content to your website and will help with your page rank. Search engines like Google and Yahoo love websites with lots of relevant content.

9.Join an Online Forum: Becoming a member in a forum is a great way to stay current with the products in your niche. Talking with fellow entrepreneurs will keep you motivated and help generate new ideas as well as answer all your questions.

Affiliate marketing refers to the promotion of products or services through affiliates. Affiliates are usually other webmasters and ezine editors who choose to act as sales people on behalf of their principals for a commission on every sale.

There are mainly two types of affiliate marketing programs: the one-tier program and the two-tier programs. In one-tier programs the affiliate earns on a per referral basis and cannot recruit sub-affiliates to assist. In two tier programs not only the affiliate earns from his/her direct referrals but also gets a percentage commission from referrals by co-affiliates who join the program through him/her. It is also possible to have multi-tier affiliate programs but these are not yet prevalent.

If you are an online entrepreneur or marketer and you have your own website then you can also promote your business and increase your sales through affiliate marketing. You will need an attractive and genuine product plus credible sales copy plus the appropriate software to set up an affiliate marketing program. Set out the program’s terms and conditions, frequently asked questions and online registration form and post them on your site and let prospects read and be able to join if they are satisfied with your affiliate program.

Apart from providing details about your affiliate marketing program on your website you need to send out the word out there that you have a lucrative and working program. Of course you could advertise in ezines or through ezine ad networks and high traffic websites. You will also need to register your program with affiliate program directories and networks such as www.associateprograms.com and www.comissionjunction.com so that prospects searching for new opportunities can find yours. You could also write reviews and articles and post them in free articles databases and request editors to publish them in your ezine.

If you have no products of your own and no website but want to earn money marketing affiliate programs you can set yourself up and succeed as an affiliate marketing. You would have to learn the ropes of online marketing and invest time, money and efforts to earn legitimate income from promoting other people’s products.

You can look for a product(s) in high demand, register as an affiliate and start promoting the products using various marketing strategies. How do you know what is in high demand and what can be a successful product to market could be found mainly through considered research. It is generally accepted that information products such as ebooks, special reports, etc sell well on the internet. To discover what particular infoproducts are suitable for you, conduct some research at online marketing forums such as www.warriorforum.com and www.ablake.com. You can read existing messages already posted there and ask questions to find out more. You can also search at affiliate program network sites such as www.commissionjunction.com, www.associateprograms.com, www.clicbank.com and www.google.com.

To assist you select the most appropriate affiliate program here are further tips:

The product must be genuine and legal so that you do not encounter legal problems.

The minimum payout should not be too high to make you wait for too long for the paycheck or to struggle too much to send referrals.

The product should not be too new as to make prospects tarry in making the buying decision or too old that almost everyone has bought it.

The price should not be too high as to make people unable to afford thus making you not get any or very few referrals or the product is too cheap that your commission is too little such that you would have to make many referrals to earn a decent income.

Does the affiliate program have one –tier or several tiers? The more tiers the program has and ability to earn residual income the better.

Do you have to pay or purchase anything to join the program? Purchasing may be fine for you to know the product but paying to join isn’t.

Ideally you should have your own website where you would post reviews and links to your affiliate programs. Use your own domain name when setting up the website to look professional. Since many of the visitors to your website will be there for a few seconds and may never return again, it is advisable that you capture their names and addresses so that you can further enlighten them on your programs and offers. This could be mainly through a regular ezine or an automated autoresponder ecourse.

Provide a means for prospects to contact you in case of any queries and reply promptly and courteously. Promote your website constantly and track your affiliate statistics regularly to gauge your performance. Ensure your links and banners are working and your affiliate ID is correct in all your links. Use text links more than banners as the latter are less effective nowadays due to their proliferation and distractive nature.

Affiliate marketing is a cooperative effort between merchant and an affiliate’s website. It has become popular for Internet sites trying to create some extra income for their site, perhaps changing a hobby to a profitable, self-supporting business. Affiliate marketing has proved to be a cost-efficient, measurable method of delivering long-term results. Research points to this method of marketing will be an industry trend.

The benefits to the merchant are many. First, it gives them a broader market to sell their product. More sites will naturally create more sales, if the sites they have chosen to use are in their niche marketing. The merchant needs to do their part by researching interested affiliate websites to make sure they are a good fit for that particular website. Finding a fit for their merchandise would be the key to more generated income. The merchant has access to markets and customers that he doesn’t spend valuable time searching out. Banner ads on affiliate sites are not distracting to the site user. It might create interest for that product and drive the consumer to the merchants website. For instance, on one of my favorite websites, it haws an affiliate marketing link to a toy store, where I was able to research and find a suitable gift to send to my one-year-old granddaughter. I needed to do this on-line anyway, as they live in another state and the banner ad prompted me to look at the site and make the purchase. This one buy will expand to others as I have four grandchildren I send Birthday and Christmas gifts to.

Benefit to the merchant? Repeat customers and recommendations to other consumers who are in need of the same product. Merchants just getting into the field shouldn’t expect immediate sales results. Placing your merchandise with an affiliate program is the same as training a new sales assistant. It will take time and training to reach the fullest potential. This is another important reason to ensure you are using the sites that fit your target customer. Bringing consumers in from different websites also gives the merchant a better idea of consumer trends and needs.

The affiliate marketer also sees many benefits. Adding marketing banners to their site is not distracting. In an interview with a new Webmaster just beginning in the field, she has found no adverse reaction to banner ads added to her site. Users have expressed their thanks for the unique ability to shop from a site they already visit regularly. The affiliate needs to have a clear understanding with the merchant what the commission will be, expected payment method and time involved in contract. The affiliate has a responsibility to represent the merchandise their user based would be most interested in. For instance, if the site has a user base of mainly stay-at-home mothers, then on-line job opportunities such as surveys would be a good match for them. This group would also appreciate direct links to children’s products and informational sites. Merchandisers often provide targeted, best-seller items and personal support to their affiliate. They often offer sales promotions that will benefit the merchandiser as well as the affiliate.

Affiliate marketing is a nonintrusive way to generate extra income for their website. It will take time for the users to understand the dynamics of banner marketing. This can be aggressively marketed to create instant sales, or can be a subtle way to make extra income to support their site.

Affiliate marketing is a win-win situation for both the marketer and the affiliate. Working together, they can be an advantage to both. The Webmaster I spoke to advised me this type of marketing has turned her website designed to be a help to women of Boomer age, into a site that was an out-of-pocket expense to a site that is now self-paying.

The most popular affiliate centre around to date would have to be ClickBank. They have thousands of affiliate programs ready and waiting for you to promote them. ClickBank deals with digital products only eg. E-books and software.

ClickBank will send you a check every 2 weeks for the commissions you have earned. You get to choose your limit of when you want them to send the check to you, the minimum amount starting at $25.

You can join ClickBank for free here http://clickbank.com/overview.html

I give a description of what I look for before promoting a website in my book “Affiliate Marketing – Quick Start Guide”. You can get my book for free at http://www.joesy.com

You can also find a variety of affiliate programs with other products you can promote as well at places such as:

www.affiliateguide.com
www.associateprograms.com
www.affiliatematch.com
www.cj.com
www.earnfind.com

Just to name a few…

Of course these aren’t the only products you can promote through affiliate marketing. You might be surprised at what company’s have affiliate programs. Even big name’s like Ebay and Dell computers have an affiliate program.

Usually the best way to promote a product is a personal recommendation and review from your self. So if you’ve bought a product recently that your extremely pleased with, check around and see if they have an affiliate program so you can earn money for promoting a product that you have hands on experience with and love!
