Can you start your own affiliate program without hassle?This is one of a two part series on creating your own affiliate/revenue sharing program.

Joining an affiliate program is a neat way to make money from your users. However much you can join someone else’s affiliate program, so you can set up your own and invite webmasters to sign up.

Why not?

You get…… deals.

Every time someone sends you a visitor who pays you money, you give a portion of that earnings to your affiliate. It’s an easy way to generate traffic and produce cash revenues.

Crucially (!)…. you don’t need to be a programming genius to set up an affiliate program in these more competitive times. There are a whole load of companies out there that offer entire affiliate kits.

Ultimate Affiliate lets you run a fully featured affiliate program from your website. It integrates with virtually every payment method, awards down-line commissions, and can handle high-traffic websites. You can edit the sign-up form to match the "look and feel” of your site as well as delete some of the optional fields.

The administration area allows you to edit affiliates and commissions, create printable reports of money due, export the data to a text file, view the traffic through your affiliate program, and much more.

Your affiliates can log in at any time and see their traffic and commission statistics as well as change their information and get links and banner code.

Once the program is set up you’ll only need to log in once a month to print out a list of the affiliates, their addresses, and the money owed. You can do this quarterly if you wish. You can export the payments owed to a text file in PayPal’s "mass pay" format and then just upload it to your PayPal account to pay everyone automatically.

Or, you can simply write your own checks. If you have to pay a lot of commissions, there is a check printing service called qchex.com. Upload the file and they’ll print and mail each of your checks for a fee of about 80 cents.

Alternatively, Locked Area Pro is an advanced member’s area management system offering very good security that’s easy to maintain. The system provides a huge list of useful features including automated sign-up, user account validation, optional random password generation and an administration approve/decline account feature.

It also comes with an extremely powerful control panel with an online administration of users, backup, and full customization facilities from the browser. A statistics system is also in built in. What more could you want?

Any time you run a program where your affiliates rely on other signups to generate profits, you will eventually have a problem with spam. One of your affiliates will inevitably get it into their head to blitz the Web with unwanted garbage.

When this happens you need to be ready to take action—otherwise it will cost you! Your Internet company can boot you off your server and you can find yourself blacklisted.

Not good for business.

If you get an email from someone claiming they received spam with your URL, then take it as an early warning. I am not advising you to immediately terminate the affiliate’s account, but be sure to contact them to follow up on the complaint. Let your affiliate know you received a complaint and advise them to remove this person from their list.

If you only get one or two complaints, it’s probably not spam—the complainants might simply have signed up for an email list and forgotten all about it. You will know when one of your affiliates is spamming, because you will get anywhere from 10 to 100 complaints in the same day all regarding the same URL.

The best thing to do in this case is to immediately terminate or disable the account of the affiliate URL that was spammed.

This ends the first installment of two parts!

On Cyberspace (Internet), there is a method from which you can make thousands of dollars per month without needing to have your own product or service. This method is highly flexible, and can be used in different forms to produce income by different people with different knowledge and skills. But one definite use of this method can make money for almost any human who is willing to just do it. This specific style can be defined as:

Transform Your Hobbies or Passions into Income Generating Websites

How? Through Affiliate Programs – The Method for Anyone to Go Smiling All The Way to the Bank, or to Wait Laughing Every Month While Waiting Commission Checks To Come to Your Feet. Let’s talk about…

Affiliate Programs

In 1997, Amazon.com launched the pre-existing idea of affiliate programs. (Amazon.com practically sells anything, but primarily books, and sells online only).

Since books are all-inclusive on any subject of human activity, Amazon.com thought why not utilize all websites out there, who offer knowledge, in such a way that these websites will offer links from their sites to Amazon.com (thus boosting traffic levels and revenue for Amazon.com), and Amazon.com in return will pay commissions to the referrer (affiliate) for each product sold. That’s how affiliate programs started and the idea circulated.

An affiliate program works, using Amazon as the example, as follows; the affiliate provides links from his site to certain books on the Amazon site, books that are related to the affiliate’s site content. Amazon uses advanced software that tracks who sends each visitor. If and when the visitor buys, Amazon pays the affiliate a commission. Affiliate program is a service offered to people who want to make money.

Affiliate programs work for anyone, since there are thousands of merchant companies out there who offer affiliate programs on thousands of different products. Online Businesses that offer Affiliate Program are broad in scope; Computing & Internet, Fun & Entertainment, Health & Fitness, Home & Family, Marketing & Advertising, Money & Employment, Society & Culture, Sports & Recreation. There are, surely, offline businesses that offer partnership too, but this article is indifferent to Offline Business. At any rate, online business is immensurable easier then an offline business and success rate is higher, partly owing to the easiness of starting an online business, and also due to the fact that online business stands steadfast in front of a Global Massive Market, instead of a Local Market. Of course this may not always be true. Success of some businesses depends on promotional efforts.

Let’s Get Back To Affiliate Programs:

All the book-keeping, order processing, shipping and handling is taken care by Merchant companies. Your only goal is to make people click on the link which will send them to the merchant company. And Its FREE Join affiliate programs.

Broad nature of affiliate programs makes it possible for anyone to leverage Internet, which brings us to the specific method I mentioned on the headline.

Transforming your hobbies into income generating websites

Let me tell you one thing before going further, To transmute hobbies into income is only one way to make money through affiliate programs. There are other ways, such as, if you have an established business, you can promote related affiliate products on your website as recommendations. If you are conducting an e-mail campaign then you can advertise affiliate products in your e-mail campaigns. The way I am talking about is largely desirable for beginners, but it is universal. Let’s move on…

People who have website

Take a look at any website that doesn’t sell anything but has some content on a particular subject, and you will find an online business that will offer an affiliate programs for that subject. And the owner of that website can make money. So if you own a website, consider searching for a related affiliate program(s).

If your website is about Movies, you can get affiliated with Amazon.com and get access to their movie database; you can advertise anyone of their Movies on your website and get commissions if any visitor from your website follows your advertisement and buys from Amazon.com. As I said earlier, companies identify which visitor came from which affiliate by the use of advanced software technology. Each Affiliate has a unique URL that points to the merchant company. When you get affiliated with any company you are told how exactly this tracking process is handled.

People who don’t have website

If you don’t own a website, then here is what you can do if you are interested in affiliate business (this is only one way to do it, I just want to give you an idea, but remember, most companies will give you tips and tricks to jump-start once you get affiliated with them).

One way which works well for many people is to concentrate on a small niche. Choose a topic in which you are passionately interested, and create a web site around that theme. Then select associate programs which closely fit the theme of your site and blend them into the site, using text links.

  • Write articles or find articles with reprint rights that match your passions. You can find articles with reprint rights on http://www.articlebank.com
  • Select affiliate programs that fit the theme of your articles
  • Create an informative website containing these nice Articles. To create a quality website, I recommend http://www.websitewizard.com. With this service you can create a website if you can stack blocks.
  • Ingrain into your website, your unique affiliate links, wherever you see fit.
  • Once your website is ready, promote it by submitting to search engines. I have provided for you a free software that will submit your website to search engines. Click here to download.
  • This is what might happen; supposing that people are now visiting your website. Interested People will come and read your articles; they will like your webpage (for whatever reason) and will perceive that you know what you are talking about and so check out your recommendations (your affiliate advertisements), and they might click and buy through them. Thus, you will make commissions. Of course, that’s only a possible outcome. Whatever I am saying in this article is not scientific or proven information. You might make money or not. But it largely depends on your website content, and your promotion.

    Affiliate Programs are very good way to make money, since you don’t need to own products.

    There is one other advantage for signing up with affiliate programs, which is, you get extensive, tested and proven marketing materials, tips and tricks on how to improve your promotion and get more visitors to your website, hence bigger commissions. All this material is yours free if you sign up with their program. Why? Because your success is their success.

    This is very important, because your reputation is on stake here! Joining the wrong affiliate programs will only hurt your online business.

    First of all, it is almost impossible for you to collect adequate informations on those merchant companies. You certainly can’t investigate them thoroughly. Hence, you will never be able to predict their successes or failures.

    That’s why you must not stress on one single merchant only within your niche.

    Pick a couple of the best quality products to promote. Still, you can do some critical researches to reduce risk.

    OK, now let’s see how we can pick the goods from the bads. Here are some factors that influences the dependability of an affiliate program. The more of these factors are present in a certain program, the more reasons you get to sign up to the program.

    Let’s see…

    1. Great quality products. This is a must. How could you promote something you are not proud of?

    2. Good affiliate sites.

    3. Good comissions. Normally, solid merchants offer more than 25% of comissions.

    4. Free to join.

    5. Great Supports. Solid merchants usually train their affiliates through training calls, newsletters and other mediums. They also shows your real-time stats and earnings, send you an email whenever a sale is made.

    6. Long-term cookie to lock on the visitors to your site. This way you still can make sales if your visitors return to your site months later.

    7. Monthly payment with realistic minimum.

    8. Two-tier comissions. Some merchants give you comissions on your referrals’ sales. Meaning… if you refer someone to become an affiiate, you can earn comission everytime he makes a sale.

    So do some researches before you sign up!

    1.Join an Affiliate Program: Join programs that interest you personally. There are affiliate programs for almost any product or service you can think of so do some research and find one that is right for you. If you have a passion for your product niche it will be a whole lot easier to stay motivated and be successful.

    2.Build your own website to promote your product: You will need to build a website with your own domain name (ie. homeworksolutions.biz) and pay a monthly fee for hosting as opposed to going the free route and sharing a domain (ie. yourname.homeworksolutions.biz) If you don’t know much about web design that’s quite ok. You will find there are lots of companies out there who offer very affordable website design.

    3.Start a reciprocal linking campaign: Start exchanging links with other websites in your niche. You will find lots of webmasters willing to add a link to your website as long as you return the favor. The more websites that link to you, the higher page rank you will have in the search engines, therefore leading to more traffic to your website.

    4.Start your own newsletter: The newsletter can simply consist of articles related to your products and website. Always add a signature containing a link to your website at the bottom of each newsletter entry. That way when people read your articles they can continue on to your website. If you don’t want to write your own articles, there are many webmasters who will let you use theirs for free. Submit your newsletter to as many websites as you can.

    5.Build an Email List: Owning your own email list is one of the most important tools you can have as an affiliate marketer. The best way to build your list is to buy leads, that way you don’t have to worry about getting in trouble for spamming. Lots of companies sell quality leads (email addresses) consisting of people who have requested information about your products. With every lead you buy you can in turn sign them up for your newsletter.

    6.Get an Auto Responder: With an auto responder program you can make the process of buying leads and signing them up for your newsletter completely automated. You can save hours of time with this approach.

    7.Write your own Articles: To be successful with affiliate marketing you will eventually have to write an article or two. This may sound a bit overwhelming in the beginning, but after you have been building your business for awhile you will get into it. Always include a signature at the bottom of the article containing your website link. Then post your article on as many websites as you can. A search for ‘article directories’ in any search engine will give you lots of places to start.

    8.Add an Article page to your website: Post all of your articles on this page and any others you find related to your niche. Having an article page will add content to your website and will help with your page rank. Search engines like Google and Yahoo love websites with lots of relevant content.

    9.Join an Online Forum: Becoming a member in a forum is a great way to stay current with the products in your niche. Talking with fellow entrepreneurs will keep you motivated and help generate new ideas as well as answer all your questions.

    If you have been a home based business entrepreneur for any length of time at all you know by now that there are certain immutable laws that govern success. You know the following:

    You have to learn the techniques of marketing your product or service. This usually comes from a combination of reading the volumes of information your are provided with and personal help from your upline coach or mentor. You then have to advertise aggressively. Some of this is through the various online services such as cost per click for higher search engine placement, through link exchange, through the purchase of targeted email lists, or numerous other types of online advertising. Some of the advertising is free and some can become quite expensive. You can also advertise offline through personal relationships, by distributing business cards and flyers, or by taking out classified ads in newspapers and magazines.

    You have discovered that you absolutely must have your own website. If you haven’t yet thrown in the towel and decided this is all too overwhelming , and you probably haven’t or you wouldn’t be reading this, then you know you have to find ways to get people to your website because real success in an online business is all about numbers.

    Liars may use statistics, but statistics don’t lie. You’ll only be successful in getting a small portion of the nearly 1 billion internet users to visit your website, and of those who do visit your website only a small portion will spend serious time looking at the business opportunity. And only a small portion of that group will actually “take the plunge” and sign up.

    So it really is all about numbers. According to the most recent U. S. Central Intelligence Agency Fact Book, in the next two years internet users will increase by 516 million worldwide. That’s almost double the current total population of the United States. So the flip side of the funneling down effect based on the information I just provided is that you’re not dealing with a fixed number.

    On the contrary, if you do the arithmetic you’ll see that 30,000 new internet users enter the world of cyberspace every hour of every day. So instead of the numbers game being an enemy to our attempts to cash in on the online business opportunity, it is an asset, and one that is growing almost exponentially. The old saying “he who hesitates has lost” cannot be more applicable.

    Too many online business prospectors lose out because they become impatient. They want that $4000 check this month. They also lose out because they become overwhelmed with the learning curve. Some lose out because they become victims of over choice and spend themselves out of opportunity by trying to do too many things. They either try to put too many products or services on their shelves (getting into too many online businesses) or they get involved in too many advertising campaigns (while paying too many advertising companies) who are also representing thousands of other businesses.

    My Dad was in the online business 50 years ago. He pumped gas and oil through rubber hose lines so gas stations could have gas for their customers and homes could have fuel oil to heat them in the winter to keep their residents warm. He taught me a valuable lesson about the online business. He once said to me, “Dave, it’s more important for me to make sure my (huge underground) tanks have gas and oil in them than it is make sure my customers’ tanks don’t run out. Because if I don’t have fuel I can’t help them even if they do run dry.”

    What does this have to do with the online business numbers game. If I don’t take time to check my own tank occasionally, if discouragement and disillusionment sets in and my tank runs dry, if in effect I become overwhelmed and quit because the task seems too formidable, I lose out on a money making opportunity my Dad could not have dreamed would ever be possible. Thirty thousand new potential customers every hour, which calculates out to 720,000 every day, or 21.6 million every month! No, you won’t get all of them, but even if you get one one thousandth of one percent of just the new customers per month, which doesn’t account for 934 million current users, you will have added 72 people to your downline every month.

    Sound unrealistic? Maybe you can do better than one one thousandth of one percent. You do the math and then figure out for yourself a strategy whereby you can tap into this enormous wealth potential.

    Affiliate marketing refers to the promotion of products or services through affiliates. Affiliates are usually other webmasters and ezine editors who choose to act as sales people on behalf of their principals for a commission on every sale.

    There are mainly two types of affiliate marketing programs: the one-tier program and the two-tier programs. In one-tier programs the affiliate earns on a per referral basis and cannot recruit sub-affiliates to assist. In two tier programs not only the affiliate earns from his/her direct referrals but also gets a percentage commission from referrals by co-affiliates who join the program through him/her. It is also possible to have multi-tier affiliate programs but these are not yet prevalent.

    If you are an online entrepreneur or marketer and you have your own website then you can also promote your business and increase your sales through affiliate marketing. You will need an attractive and genuine product plus credible sales copy plus the appropriate software to set up an affiliate marketing program. Set out the program’s terms and conditions,frequently asked questions and online registration form and post them on your site and let prospects read and be able to join if they are satisfied with your affiliate program.

    Apart from providing details about your affiliate marketing program on your website you need to send out the word out there that you have a lucrative and working program. Of course you could advertise in ezines or through ezine ad networks and high traffic websites. You will also need to register your program with affiliate program directories and networks such as www.associateprograms.com and www.comissionjunction.com so that prospects searching for new opportunities can find yours. You could also write reviews and articles and post them in free articles databases and request editors to publish them in your ezine.

    If you have no products of your own and no website but want to earn money marketing affiliate programs you can set yourself up and succeed as an affiliate marketing. You would have to learn the ropes of online marketing and invest time, money and efforts to earn legitimate income from promoting other people’s products.

    You can look for a product(s) in high demand, register as an affiliate and start promoting the products using various marketing strategies. How do you know what is in high demand and what can be a successful product to market could be found mainly through considered research. It is generally accepted that information products such as ebooks, special reports, etc sell well on the internet. To discover what particular infoproducts are suitable for you, conduct some research at online marketing forums such as www.warriorforum.com and www.ablake.com. You can read existing messages already posted there and ask questions to find out more. You can also search at affiliate program network sites such as www.commissionjunction.com, www.associateprograms.com, www.clicbank.com and www.google.com.

    To assist you select the most appropriate affiliate program here are further tips:

    The product must be genuine and legal so that you do not encounter legal problems.

    The minimum payout should not be too high to make you wait for too long for the paycheck or to struggle too much to send referrals.

    The product should not be too new as to make prospects tarry in making the buying decision or too old that almost everyone has bought it.

    The price should not be too high as to make people unable to afford thus making you not get any or very few referrals or the product is too cheap that your commission is too little such that you would have to make many referrals to earn a decent income.

    Does the affiliate program have one –tier or several tiers? The more tiers the program has and ability to earn residual income the better.

    Do you have to pay or purchase anything to join the program? Purchasing may be fine for you to know the product but paying to join isn’t.

    Ideally you should have your own website where you would post reviews and links to your affiliate programs. Use your own domain name when setting up the website to look professional. Since many of the visitors to your website will be there for a few seconds and may never return again, it is advisable that you capture their names and addresses so that you can further enlighten them on your programs and offers. This could be mainly through a regular ezine or an automated autoresponder ecourse.

    Provide a means for prospects to contact you in case of any queries and reply promptly and courteously. Promote your website constantly and track your affiliate statistics regularly to gauge your performance. Ensure your links and banners are working and your affiliate ID is correct in all your links. Use text links more than banners as the latter are less effective nowadays due to their proliferation and distractive nature.

    This article is the second of my two part series on setting up your own affiliate program. Once you are starting an affiliate program, you must manage and keep track of it.

    The key is to promote your products and services to people who NEED them. Affiliate business is no different. You may create your own affiliate program or you may promote other popular affiliate programs that are related to your product or service.

    The best way to manage and track is by creating your own affiliate program website. This is where you can list all your affiliate programs.

    Keeping a track of all affiliate programs in a single network is easy. You would generally be given one username and password as well as a single interface that controls all the programs.

    However, if you have many of your own affiliate programs or you promote several stand-alone affiliate programs from your website, the task of staying organized becomes a bit more complex.

    There are software programs available on the Internet that organize and keep track of all data associated with affiliate programs. A typical database would include some of the following fields:

    * Program Name
    * URL
    * Email Address
    * ID
    * Password
    * 1st Tier Sale
    * 2nd Tier Sale
    * Total commission for month

    Some of the advanced software programs also provide analysis and comparison tools. If you take the time to input data about clicks, sales, and page views, impressions, emails sent etc. from your various campaigns and enter all of it into the program, it will show you:

    * Click to Sale Ratios
    * Impression to Sale Ratios
    * Amount Earned Per Impression
    * Amount Earned Per Click

    Keep a close watch on your activities

    Ensure that your website is up and running. The danger in not knowing that your site is down comes when you are running a pay per click advertising campaign. The click costs add up whether your site is functional or not.

    Check your statistics daily. This will give you a better idea of your income trends and also highlight any area of concern such as sudden decrease in revenue.

    Be prompt in answering any queries from affiliate partners or customers, especially when these are about your products or services.

    One of the main aspects of any affiliate program is residual income. You’ve got to make the most of every customer. The best way to do this is by promoting affiliate programs that offer residual commission as well as one time sales.Membership sites are a good way to collect residualcommissions.

    Track your links - guesswork is no use

    Track all your affiliate links. The best way to accomplish this is by setting up tracking software for your affiliate links. There are a number of scripts that will do the job.

    Most tracking programs typically allow you to setup tracking links for any product you promote, telling you how many hits each product has received, and where the hits are coming from.

    It is not enough to have a few banners and classified ads if you provide an affiliate program.You must provide as much help as possible .You should have tested and proven endorsements, testimonials, sig files, ezine ads, and other unique tools and techniques.You should also make yourself available to answer any questions they may have.

    You should determine what methods work best for your affiliate program or one you might promote in a particular medium. For instance, which ezine ads work best and in what ezine; which banner ads produce the greatest clickthroughs and from which sites or banner exchanges; and where on your website is the most effective spot to include a testimonial.

    This can only come about through active promotion and looking at results both good and non productive.Assumptions can be tested and the results guide you.Just hoping for the best is a recipe for disaster.

    If you can sort out your payment procedures from the start, you will save yourself an administrative headache and more to the point,keep your affiliates happy! Or use a third party like clickbank to pay out and manage instead. Its less flexible than your own set up to begin with but everyone gets paid without you lifting a finger. You just pay out in fees.

    This concludes my overview on starting your own affiliate program.If there is any one thing I would recommend, it is to track everything you can so you can refine your strategy further and increase your earnings.

    Discover a simple four-step way to get bigger affiliate commissions… I’ll tell you exactly what those four steps are, and how you can apply this formula right away.

    So you have decided to start up your own home business and after hours of searching you have decided on the program you are going to join.

    Now stop and take check before you rush in.

    Yes there are thousands of people running their own home business and yes they are making money from them.

    What you need to stop and consider is that you will be running you own business and what does any business need to make money? You may come up with several answers but let me tell you from experience the key resource to any successful business is its employees.

    You can have the best product or service in the world but if your employees are not up to scratch then you will not have a successful business.

    Now a quick search of the net will bring up thousands of affiliate opportunities and companies willing to offer you the job of promoting their service or product and they require little more than you email and user name to get started. They do not really have a lot to loose by employing you to advertise their service as they only pay you for result so no sign ups then no payments, the only real sack able offence in their eyes is spamming

    However you do have plenty to loose so consider yourself to be your first employee of your business.

    What I am asking is would you employ you?

    Do you have what it takes as an employee to make your business successful?

    Now would be a good time to sit down and think of the questions that you would ask an interviewee before you were to offer them a job.

    Here are 5 simple questions I asked myself before I committed to starting my own online business.

    1. What makes you want to start your own business?
    2. How many hours a week can you offer the business and do you have a quiet place to run your business from?
    3. What specific skill can you bring to this business?
    4. Where do you see yourself in 12 months time and what are your goals?
    5. How much do you want to earn a month?

    As I said these are the simple questions I asked myself, most of us have had a job interview or two so you can think about the questions you were asked and how they may relate to running your own business online.

    You can also take this process one step further because as you start to succeed with your online business you will start to build your own down line. You need to look on these people as your employees and consider do they have what it takes to help you grow a winning company.

    A great way to use this is when you send out your welcome email include a few simple interview questions. This will help you in 2 ways –

    Firstly: You will learn more about you sign up and what their intentions are, this will help make any follow up more personal.

    Secondly: Will they make a good employee? If so then spend some time on them and with your help they will grow their business which will in turn grow yours.

    So would you employ yourself?

    If you have decided the answer is yes then its time to start your business and start taking on your first employees.

    Just one last thought for you:

    “By working faithfully eight hours a day, you may eventually get to be a boss and work twelve hours a day.” Robert Frost

    There are obviously many ways to make money online, some simple, some quite complicated…

    If you’re relatively new to Internet marketing, this is particularly suited for you…

    Affiliate programs, the most effective and easy way to make money online that you’ll find. most of which are free to join, and can be an excellent way to make money online… But they, like anything else, require use of the proper tools and resources if you’re to expect any kind of significant success.

    That’s the thing… Way to many people hope or even expect to make money online without ANY type of investment.

    I can tell you right now, if that is what you’re expecting, you might as well call it quits before you even get started. If you’re afraid to invest money to start your own business, you don’t need a business. You need a job. If you want to make money online, you must also be willing to invest in yourself. It’s that simple. (I’m only being honest!)

    What you should expect is a modest investment of your time and (ideally) money. Though you CAN succeed without investing a dime, it will likely take you significantly longer than if you’re willing to set aside a small budget specifically for online advertising.

    As an affiliate, your job is simply to send visitors to the web-site hosting the affiliate program. For each visitor you send who then decides to order, you are paid a commission every time a sale is made.

    Affiliate programs are attractive for beginners in particular because you don’t have to worry about processing payments, delivering products, etc. And again, most affiliate programs cost absolutely nothing to participate in. Many people earn a full-time income working from home as an affiliate.

    Indeed, these are advantages for most ANY person looking to make money online (beginner or otherwise).

    However, in order to make significant amounts of money through affiliate programs, you’ll still need the proper tools and resources.

    After you choose your affiliate programs, your first move is to build your own website.

    Well, most people say you don’t actually need to have a website to make money online as an affiliate. Indeed, some of the most successful affiliate marketing strategies — e-mail marketing and classified ads — don’t depend on you having a web site at all.

    However, I would like to encourage you to set up a web site as soon as possible. A web site provides you with a ‘hub’ — a place where visitors can get more information about your products/service, and discover how knowledgeable you are about these products, without having to contact you directly.

    If you market your web site successfully, you’ll get thousands of people coming to your site each month — which translates into more sales as an affiliate. So, the faster you set up a web site, the better your chances of making money online faster.

    As I mention in almost all of my articles, 97% of Internet marketers never make a cent online. I mention this simple fact because it has a lot of power–it has the power to completely discourage people who are not succeeding, and it also has the power to encourage those same people who are failing to learn, so that they can succeed.

    In this article, I will teach you exactly what it means to build Internet capital goods–and how it relates to entering that top 3%. When you finish reading this, you will have complete faith that you can succeed and you will understand exactly what it will take to do so.

    So what are capital goods? You know that regular businesses purchase capital goods to increase production. You know that industrial businesses operate some of these capital goods to produce goods that they can then resell for profit. You know that capital goods can be land. They can be factories. They can be machinery. They can be people. . .

    So how does this relate to marketing your affiliate program? It’s quite simple–in order to succeed, you must build a large pile of Internet capital goods and then use them to pull in customers and retain them.

    Most affiliates do not understand this concept. They start out with a boilerplate gateway webpage–that everyone else who sells the same product also uses–and then they use that page in conjunction with paid advertisement and hope for success. In almost every single case, they never make more than a couple sales, give up after 3 months at the absolute most, and then move on to the next opportunity.

    If you do a simple analysis of successful affiliate program marketers (which, for practical reasons, will be easiest if you do it through websites), you will find that they either a) have purchased Internet capital goods and advertisement with a lot of money or b) have an enormous amount of Internet capital goods. (You can test this yourself by checking the top listings in search engines for any keyword combination).

    What does this mean for you? It means that you either a) are already rich and can purchase that land, factory, machinery, and workers immediately (website, product rights, advertisement, etc) or b) you need to start building these Internet capital goods or you are definitely going to fail within 3 months.

    So how do you know what is and isn’t an Internet capital good? An Internet capital good is an item that, once you build or purchase it, will constantly add or create value for your business. This includes links, content, dynamic scripts, free tools that your targeted audience can use, and mailing lists that you can consistently offer your products to.

    If you are not making an effort to build these Internet capital goods, you are the Internet equivalent of real life business that purchases frozen pizzas from the supermarket next door, heats them up in a microwave, and then tries to sell them. On top of that, your store has no napkins or condiments or tables or chairs or pizza boxes. Everyone must sit on and eat off of the floor.

    Would you want to purchase pizza there? No, you would get it at the supermarket frozen at a cheaper price, or you would go next door, where they make it and then bake it in an oven, where you could sit down at a table in a chair.

    Take the time to understand this point: If you want to succeed, you absolutely must either have money to buy your land, store, table, chairs, and oven–or you must build them yourself.

    Fortunately for Internet marketers, you have a huge advantage over regular businesses–you can build all of these Internet capital goods; you do not need to pay for any of them.

    You can build every Internet capital good I have mentioned above for no cost at all. And you will if you want to succeed on a limited budget. So setup your links. Make quotas; reach those quotas every week. Build content. Find legally reusable expert articles and add them to your website. Build pages that offer free tools to your customers. Use free advertising methods advertise this page as a useful stand-alone (which happens to be linked to your related website). Setup a free content ezine or marketing list that is related to your website. Register with free directories to get customers.

    All of these Internet capital goods will not only draw customers to your business through a multitude of sources, but they will also retain customers that come to your website through free or paid advertisement by giving them the option to get free information or use free products.

    As every marketing study has indicated, multiple impressions of a product increase a person’s chance of buying it–and multiple contacts with a salesperson increases the conversion rate. By retaining customers you will both increase the impression of your product and expose them to your sale copy, which will dramatically increase your conversion rates.

    If you get nothing else out of this article, please remember this fact: the only way to successfully build and expand an Internet business is by building Internet capital goods and staying around until you have enough to constantly draw and retain customers. If you do not have the money to purchase these capital goods, start building them today for free or you will probably be ready to give up in about 3 months.
