So, what are you looking for when you investigate ? Look and see how many affiliates each company has. Don’t be put off by the fact that there are a lot. Its good. It means the product/s sell well. How much commission is paid out to affiliates? If you’ve got a Google toolbar (and if you haven’t, go to Google and download one – they’re free) you can find out a lot about companies by entering their name in the search box., and this will throw up a lot of information including how many backward links there are to that company. Important? I should think so, because search engines like backward links for high ranking.

Proper investigation will take a little time, but you’ll find out a lot about these companies. Can you see yourself making money with a product AFTER you’ve investigated the company. Is the product something people want – not need!

There is no doubt in my mind that Affiliate Programmes is the way to make considerable money on the net, multi income streams from 5/6 Affiliate Progs. Not just one cheque a month, but several.

Nevertheless, you can’t just become an Affiliate and expect the money to roll in. If that’s your thinking – get another job! But if you are prepared to put in the right effort and look to the future with confidence and determination, you’ll win. Thomas Edison said – “What you are will show in what you do”

Advertising your programmes is easy, but that’s the subject of another article – “Don’t Pay for Advertising”. Finally, let me urge you here NOT to use FFAs, Safe lists and the like. They never worked for me and they won’t for you.

Content is what drives affiliate sales. Period. You can advertise as much as you want, in as many different places that you want, but at the end of the day, it’s the content on your site that will make the sale. Notice I said "your" site.

This content can be in the form of articles, product reviews, industry news, interviews with key people, or whatever people will want to keep coming back for.

Content will effectively pre-sell your visitors, that you work so hard to advertise to, into taking action… clicking through to the merchant and ka-ching… making you commission.

Affiliate marketing is made stronger through your list

Any type of online marketing depends heavily on a way to keep in frequent touch with previous website visitors. Having an ezine, newsletter, or other type of e-mailing list is a key component to affiliate marketing. A strong list of subscribers is a gold mine for savvy publishers.

The key to making an ezine work for you though is, again, strong, quality, and relevant content. Something that people will want to keep reading on a continuing basis. A weekly, or bi-weekly ezine can easily boost your affiliate commissions sky high by placing a few links within the content or as a product review or special recommendation.

Again, please note the use of "a few". Many ezine publishers just don’t seem to get the idea of "a few". That means one to two affiliate links within the whole ezine. The key to publishing an ezine is to establish contact and grow a relationship with your subscriber. Not force affiliate links down their throat. When you can build a strong relationship with subscribers, they will be more likely to listen to your advice, your suggestions, and your recommendations.

If you don’t have an ezine, start one. If you do then take a hard look at it and see if you’re using too many ads and not enough content.

Affiliate marketing depends on strategic linking partners

Search engines like Google, MSN, and Yahoo! are looking hard at sites and one of the criteria for high rankings is how many relevant links to your site there are. Meaning is there any other sites out there that are linking to you. This is very important for affiliate marketing websites.

And another reason why content is so important.

Every day I set aside one full hour of time in my day to research and email potential linking partners. Once I find someone who’s site is comparable to mine I will email them, by name, and present my proposal. Keep in mind they do not have to link back to you. So, you must make it appealing. Either by reciprocating with a link to their site, a special comission for everyone they refer who buys from you, or some other way of enticing them to link to you.

Now, just any site will not do you any good. They must be relevant to your particular niche. For example, a fishing oriented website would not benefit, either by traffic or search engine rankings, by having a diet site link back to them.

What I love about clickbank managing your affiliate programme is that they provide the accounts, the sales reports and they pay your affiliates every two weeks.

Earlier we setup an affiliate sign up template page. It’s easy to get affiliates to sign up to your programme. All you do is get the potential affiliate to sign up for a clickbank account of their own The link you use to get them to sign up to their own clickbank account is as follows.

All you need to do is replace the “affiliate word”, with your own clickbank nickname. This activates clickbanks affiliate link. If someone signs up using the previous link with your nickname, you will receive commission from clickbank if the person signs up for the full account.

So if you refer someone and they activate their account fully (activation fee $50), you will receive $10. Also you will receive a commission from clickbank for every sale they make with their own product in the future. Roughly this will work out around .10c for every 10 sales they make.

Now the code an affiliate will provide to link to your site will look like the following.

http://(yournickname).(their nickname) .hop.clickbank.net In order to let your affiliates generate the code they need to link to your site and earn credit for any sales they generate, Clickbank will create an automated affiliate link generator form just like they generated an automatic order form for your product. Below is the interface needed to create your affiliate link.

By then creating a link on your affiliate signup page to this form, your affiliates will be able to receive their own unique affiliate linking code for your website .

Once a potential affiliate enters his/her clickbank nickname and clicks submit, the system then generates their own linking code. This links from their site to yours, showing that the visitor was sent by them.

Now you can use this affiliate programme if your budget is tight but I personally use a different programme and here is why I don’t use the programme outlined above.

Firstly anyone can become an affiliate of yours. That means that if one of your hard working affiliates is promoting you and an interested individual sees his unique affiliate link to your website, he can just substitute your first affiliates link with his own, then buy your product. Your affiliate loses money which was rightly theirs. Not a good start.

What about someone who you get to your site? Well they can just buy through their own affiliate link and cut you out of some profits that were rightly yours as you got them there in the first place.

Thirdly, you don’t actually know who any of your affiliates are because they don’t have to register with you to become an affiliate. Its easy to work out the affiliate code they’ll need so they go off promoting you.

Also your affiliate can’t actually see how many visitors they are sending to your site. All they are aware of is the commission their making.

It is for the above reasons I use a programme called easyclickmate . This programme solves the above problems and obviously works in conjunction with clickbank, to maximise the potential of your clickbank account. It will also turn your affiliate programme into a very powerful money making machine!!

Affiliate marketing is a proven success and it is responsible for millions of dollars in sales for a great many websites.

In fact, affiliate marketing is one tool that levels the playing field for smaller online retailers. A tiny site can work day to day and gain thousands of affiliates in a short period of time. A thousand affiliates in six months for someone working an hour or two a day, a few days a week, is very realistic.

A rough definition of an affiliate program is simply a program that allows webmasters to display your ads on their website and get a cut of the sales generated from the traffic that they send to your site. So, if webmaster Joe puts an ad on his website for your product and a hundred people click that ad and go to your site and three people end up buying your product, Joe will earn a percentage of the money you make from these sales. But unless your site is truly unique you will also encounter serious competition within the network. Because of this, every time you recruit a valuable affiliate they will join the network and be exposed to your competitor’s offers plus those of a thousand other affiliate programs. Very distracting and not exactly preferable.

This is the advantage of an independent program. The affiliates you recruit will be focused on your program alone. Why spend so much money and so much time bringing in affiliates who are immediately directed to other programs as soon as they join? This is a big negative for affiliate networks that makes a strong case for running an independent program.

Setting up an affiliate program is very easy. You need some good affiliate software installed on your server and you need the ads. Once your affiliate software is set up and you have loaded a few ads, you can begin to recruit affiliates. The first thing to do is to submit your program to affiliate program directories. Simply search “affiliate program directories” and you will find a nice list. The directory traffic will bring in some nice affiliates but your own efforts in recruiting will generate the best results.

To recruit affiliates is a simple procedure. Search the web the way you would expect your customers to and go to the sites that come up in the top of the search results. Check the site out and if it looks good send the webmaster an email or a letter, or both. The letter is mentioned because spam filters have begun to block a lot of legitimate email and letters have had fantastic response rates. Working the phone is always good too.

As your affiliate base builds so will your sales. Run weekly or monthly specials, create new ads consistently and communicate with your affiliate using a newsletter and/or a blog. Keep the communications professional and consistent and you will see your program grow every month.

For a small investment you buy a lot of potential. It’s not a get rich quick scheme and it does take a serious effort on your part but the nice thing about affiliate programs is that if you have a good product, and you put the effort forth, you can build an online sales force consisting of thousands of websites helping you sell your product.
