Affiliate marketing can be really hard, especially when you are a newbie. Affiliate marketers are also human beings. They are liable to make mistakes once in a while. Every marketer makes mistakes and if they say they dont their lying to you..

Here are the most common mistakes that affiliate marketers make. Together with these mistakes are the lessons learned.

1. Most people spend way too much time on the computer.

Networking online is great. However, it will never take the place of meeting face-to-face or having a conversation with someone over the phone.

Sending emails are easy, but you should be up with the ease of this technology. Never try to break things off over email. This will just result in useless and never-ending arguments. Try to compliment online networking with face-to-face and phone meetings.

2. Spending too much time on the technical side.

Most marketers try to do all the work themselves. They update the contents on their WebPages, create new auto responders and create new HTML pages for new products instead of farming things out to others.

It takes them quite a long time to accomplish all this. Let it go. Why not hire a technician expert to maintain your website.

3. Not delegating administrative tasks.

Updating documents, making them look pretty, writing content and writing sales copy for new information products are just some of the tasks that affiliates do. Sometimes they have to rush off and write something quickly because they sat on it for too long or maybe got distracted and the deadline is nearly up.

If your in this situation you might be better off hiring a virtual assistant or copywriter to do all this stuff for you.

4. Wasting time and effort targeting the wrong market.

Ever wonder why all your traffic is not giving you the results you expected? You are simply targeting the wrong market. You need to target your advertising to your specific niche, then you should see the results you expect.

5. Creating a lot of information products at once.

Just because you can bang out more than two special reports in a weekend does not mean you have the manpower or energy to promote them all at the same time.

In order to make sales on an information product, you really need to market them. Until you do that, these products are going to just sit on your website.

Focus on one product for at least three months and set up an affiliate program to help promote each new product.

6. Attending networking events that were not producing results.

While networking is about building relationships, it should also lead to some quality contacts.

Most of the time, networking events affiliates go to is comprised of entrepreneurs looking for business. These people do not yet have the will it takes to succeed in their feild.

Stick with a networking event for no more than two consecutive events, analyze the results, then move on. Also, attend more networking events that puts you in touch with your target audience.

7. Not fully educating themselves.

If an affiliate is a solo entrepreneur, it seem so easy to forget that they have to invest some time in taking courses that can help them learn how to do things better.

Continuously educating oneself is an absolute must. Doing this will put you in touch with how to do things better in your business, as well as meeting some exceptional people and trainers. This will help put you ahead of the competition.

In addition, you will notice some new changes in how well your sales are performing.

Try to set aside at least 10% of all business income in a savings account to spend on educational materials.

These are just some examples of common mistakes affiliate marketers make in their business. Note that these mistakes, even seemingly insignificant can cost you a lot of money.

And if you are just starting in affiliate marketing, you do not want this to happen. Then again, mistakes will serve as a valuable lesson that even the best education will not give you.

The need for an AdSense alternative continues to grow. Soon Yahoo will be releasing their YPN to the general publishing world, and word is MSN also has something in the works. Until recently, there hasn’t really been a decent alternative to AdSense.

Onto the stage rushes Chitika - a great looking PPC advertising opportunity that delivers small pictures and a nice tabbed ad, delivering 4 or five times the information that one AdSense ad delivers. This content can be keyword targeted, giving you even greater control over your ads.

Recently Chitika started offering alternate ads, which allow you to show whatever ad you want to someone on your site that is not approved in the Chitika system to click. This means that if someone from a third-world country visits your site, and they are not on Chitika’s authorized country list, they won’t see your ads. This is good because, if they saw and clicked your ad, you wouldn’t get paid for it anyway. So it’s better to just put an alternative ad, such as an ad from Commission Junction or something that has the potential to still pay you.

As Chitika continues to grow, and their userbase steadily increases, the need for quick information grows as well. Recently Joel Comm (of AdSense ‘fame’) released a new book, Chitika Secrets. The book, available at Chitika-Secrets.com, is a tell-all packed with great tips and ideas for any web publisher. If you are a website publisher, and are looking for a quick way to ramp-up on all of the best Chitika secrets, this is the ebook for you.

New websites such as Chitika-Chat.com are popping up across the ‘net. Users are beginning to collaborate on ideas and tips that will help shape the future of online advertising.

Are you signed up for Chitika? If you are an AdSense publisher (or not!), you should consider other revenue streams like Chitika.

More people are discovering the power of affiliate marketing to supplement or even replace their existing income. But there are even more people who would like to have a slice of this exciting world but are unsure exactly what an affiliate program is or what it consists of.

When discussing an affiliate program, it helps to compare it to a traditional networking company where a network of salespeople and distributors are recruited to sell their products to all corners of the globe.

As an example, instead of a company selling directly to their customers it sells products through a series of distributors and salespeople. In turn, the members of this distribution and sales network enjoy a very good living by promoting the products made by others.

In essence, the affiliate programs found on the internet are distribution and sales efforts taken to the online world. The affiliate web site takes the place of the distributor and sales network, and the individual is paid by the seller of the product when a sale is made. Of course there are affiliate programs where physical products have to be shipped but there are also many other affiliate programs where only software or informational products have to be downloaded.

It is easy to understand why this arrangement is so popular, from the point of view of both the merchant and the owner of the web site. The merchant benefits from increased sales and at the same time, does not have to pay for additional advertising and he can expand his network without the need for additional and sometimes expensive advertising. The affiliate on the other hand may not have a product of his own to make money from and selling someone else’s product for a share of the selling price gives him the opportunity to start his own business.

Of course, effort is required on the part of the affiliate to promote his website and the product he is trying to sell. There are many ways that an affiliate program can be promoted. An example would be if the affiliate already has a website and a link added directly to the merchant site. It costs nothing to set up and is very easy to do with a little cut and paste.

All good affiliate programs will have a back office with tools to use and it is always advisable to protect your affiliate links and therefore your commissions, by disguising your links so that they are not chopped off or used by anyone else.

Commissions paid by merchants vary. You can expect anything up to 70% or even more with some affiliate programs, but these will mainly be software downloads. If you go to Clickbank you will find thousands of such programs to promote. With these kinds of commissions, it is easy to see why the promotion of software type programs is such a great way to make money online. At the other end of the scale though some affiliate programs pay a pittance, as low as 1.5% in some cases and you will have to ask yourself if these will be worth the effort.

Affiliate programs are very popular on the internet. If you do not have your own product to sell and you want to have a shot at earning some money on the internet, then affiliate marketing is the way to go. Give a little time, effort and patience and you will be rewarded. So if you’re not already familiar with the concept of affiliate marketing, why not check it out?

In any business, you do not always get what you wanted. You cannot convert your business into an overnight success. Do cannot simply create business out of nothing and end up big time because everything has to be planned and carefully studied. And any business you engage would bring you to different challenges along the way because no business is perfect.

And like any other businesses, entering into the private resale right field could not give you the success you have always dreamed of.

While most of the private resale rights entrepreneurs win big time in this field you have to consider that there is a portion of the pie that losses in this business. With the popularity of private resale rights in the information age, you should know where are the areas you would fail. Focusing your attention on the following this could save your time, your effort and your money. Here are the private resale rights pitfalls:

1.Intense competition is always one of the problems of newcomers who want to gain name in any businesses they would like to venture in. The private resale right business is not different. With worldwide market and of course worldwide competition, your private resale rights business could not move as you wish. 2.Any road to success is not always the easiest road to take. For private resale rights business, it could take a lot of marketing skill and time of careful planning to arrive at your dream success. Since private resale rights is existing right before your awareness that it exists, you should test the water first and plan your dive before you take the dip.

3.Although every business could be different from one another, the private resale rights intense competition could also mean “competition.” One brand with different versions of presentations, there is a little chance to come up with a unique product of your own. A particular private resale right product might have a clone which in turn become a fierce competition. 4.Private resale right business is time consuming. Although most businesses requires time, extra effort should be given with modifications and customizations to come up with unique product.

5.Last but not the least. Any product you produce for private resale rights is more or less owned by other people. And because you don’t own the rights of any of the products, it is subject could also be owned by other people which is also subject for improvement and modifications. You don’t have the hold of any of your product that is why you cannot have the full market of any of your product.

Enumerating all these thing does not mean you don’t have the space in private resale right business. For few people who succeed in this business, you surely can get to the same pedestal of those who make things good for their private resale right business.

What is good about these pitfalls is that if you know you are properly equipped to launch your own business, you are certainly get all the credits. And the elimination process would not eat you alive if you are prepared to face these challenges that could certainly occur along the way. With good and proper management of your private resale rights products, you will know where you stand up in case you fall down.

1. How to build a good site that converts

2. SEO - you need TONS of traffic since only maybe 1 out of 200 will buy and your commission per sale may only be around $10. SEO help your site get top ranking in the search engines so more people can find you. There may be over 1 million pages competing for a search term relating to a product you are trying to sell so you have to be really good. Thousands of people already know how to do this, so you have lots of catch up to do.

3. Then there is lots of trial and error in picking the right merchants and learning the best ways to promote them.

I’m not trying to be negative, just realistic. Too many people think affiliate marketing is a “get rich quick”. They throw up a couple banners and wonder why they never make a single sale.

How long? Depends partly on how much money you need to make. My best guess (trying to be realistic not pessimistic) is that if you were EXTREMLY fast at learning this and EXTRMELY good and EXTREMLY lucky you may hit 2000 in 2 years. That’s based on the fact that you are starting at 0 and based on the fact that if you have another full time job you won’t be able to devote much time to working on affiliate marketing.

If you decide to try - the biggest challenge will be the 1st few months - checking your stats and seeing 0 or $5 here and $5 there and wondering if all the work was worth it. But once you get some sales rolling, if you stay committed and work hard the commissions should very gradually continue to grow.

One of the biggest deciding factors in affiliate marketing is going to be the traffic through your site. Many of the posts so far are great advice, and are part of the affiliate marketing mix, but without having TARGETED visitors to your pages, you will not have pre-qualified visitors that will click on your affiliate programs.

The key to this part of the affiliate mix is knowing your visitors, and then being able to determine what affiliate programs you can offer that will meet their needs. Beyond that is the concept of pre-sell, which is the ability to put your visitors into the required open and receptive mind set required for them to click on your programs.

Without trusting visitors that accept your advice and offerings, and without knowing what interests and needs you can fulfill for these visitors, you will have a rough time at the affiliate marketing game. Yes, you can have tons of traffic coming through your site and offer a wide variety of programs for them to click on, bit it lacks a targeted direction that will not leverage your visitor traffic, and the results will fall short of what you could actually be realizing in affiliate marketing income.

Learning SEO and driving traffic is the key so you will need to get really good at that. Also keep in mind that just putting some banners on a site won’t do much for you. Datafeeds is the way to go to generate more income. That takes some tech expertise and a program like WebMerge.

So here is some advice if you want to start affiliate marketing:

1. You must be passionate about the site or sites you are developing. You’re going to spend a lot of time with the subject - better like it.

2. If you just don’t have any ideas what to design a site around, use Wordtracker.com and Wordspot.com to see what people are searching for online. You’ll get an idea of what’s popular and then find something in that list that interests you.

3. This isn’t about "selling" people something. There are 2 kinds of sites online, "Commerce" sites that have something to sell, and "Content" sites that have information. Content sites need to make money from their labors of love and so make great affiliates. They have developed a site with great content about a niche topic and then they have learned how to get traffic and a following about this topic. Then, AFTER that happens, you can begin to recommend products or place relevant ads that your traffic is interested in from Commerce sites that run affiliate programs and will compensate you for sending them traffic that THEY sell to.

The ability of the Commerce site to "convert" the traffic you send is your #1 priority. If they cannot turn the interested people you send to them into buyers at a reasonable rate (2-5% of more) drop them and find a site that can. Conversion isn’t your job, it’s theirs. Traffic is YOUR job. Learn search, pay-per-click, developing newsletter lists, link pop, and stickiness.

Good luck - imagine the day when you can earn money while you sleep! It DOES work. Trust me.

Having a work at home job is easier to do today than ever before, especially with the options the Internet offers us. There are many different reasons that people decide they want to make money with work at home jobs:

* New moms are reticent to leave their newborns with baby sitters or strangers in order to go back to work - who can blame them?

* People want to "retire in style", making use of their newfound spare time in retirement by having passive income streams

* Over-stressed people sometimes just need a break from the rat-race, yet an ongoing income remains a must to maintain

* Disabled folks are unable to make the commute, but are capable of contributing a lot of value using their computer

* Displaced workers and the unemployed are in need of finding a way to make ends meet

* With today’s high gas prices and child care, driving across town chews up most of the after-tax income we’re able to make, making a regular job even less attractive than usual

* Still others simply want to make more money, save for the future, pay off cars and homes, ditch the boss and take back control of their life, work whenever they feel like it and enjoy the freedom of working from their own home office.

Whatever the impetus for being interested in work at home jobs, more people than ever are seeking ways to achieve this modern-day nirvana. More and more, people are turning to work from home jobs on the Internet, since most of us now have high-speed DSL or equivalents available.

Now, one must be adequately prepared before striking out to make money on the Internet. There are a bunch of survey scams and questionable money-making schemes to be aware of and steer clear of out there. These survey scams typically ask you to pay them some sign-up fee, then take surveys to supposedly make money. Most of these so-called work at home jobs are scams designed to take your money, and you end up making no money at all, so be very cautious about such schemes.

Fortunately, there are also legitimate ways to make good to great money over the Internet working from home today, in what’s called "affiliate marketing". Basically, you sign up as an "affiliate", and you market other people’s existing products online, and you get paid a healthy commission for each sale you make. It’s as simple as that - your work at home job is selling other people’s existing products as an affiliate.

The checks come every two weeks - like clockwork. This is a huge and growing business today, due to the rapid growth of "digital goods" and the vastness of the Internet. We live today in the marvelous digital information dot-com age of the Internet, where technology advances on every front have changed our way of life, how we are entertained, how products are bought and sold, and how information is located and consumed – digitally at the speed of thought and light.

As a result, our world economy is now in transition. It is transforming from an industrial age to that of an Information Society. This information society is rapidly taking shape before our very eyes today. Among these changes is the massive growth of digital information products, the majority of which are bought and sold over the Internet.

Digital technologies make it easier and cheaper to access, store and transmit information – and to buy it and sell it! The beauty of digital products is that there are no physical goods to purchase, inventory and transport. This drastically reduces a business’ operating costs, creating an incredibly profitable business engine. And should we choose to sell non-digital, more traditional hard goods, the suppliers of these hard goods will just drop ship them for us, so we can certainly sell them online, too.

Digital information, transformed into economic and social value, offers huge opportunities for the development of new products and services. Information is the key resource of our new digital economy.

For thousands of years, people have been trying to capture and convey the value of what they’ve learned and know, which began with printed books. Now, anyone with the right tools and some basic online marketing knowledge can reach out and touch a large part of the rest of our world – electronically!

This digital information is today conveyed as what are commonly known as "e-books" - electronic online books, and software products of various kinds. These digital goods are simply downloaded to a customer’s PC, making these digital transactions entirely automated and hands-free. This makes them extremely attractive, since there’s absolutely no human intervention required once things are set up and the sales processes are taking place online.

There are an estimated 729 million people using the Internet today (287 million English speaking). That number continues to grow steadily as more of the earth’s population gains online access and more young people grow up in the only world they’ve ever known – a digital world. The digital age is here to stay, and the marketplace is huge and still growing.

There are thousands of people making huge six-figure incomes, working at home just part-time, making amazing money over the Internet. You could be one them, through Internet affiliate marketing. Powerful Internet marketing techniques are available today that provide you with an opportunity of a lifetime – the ability to take control of your own finances and live the life you were meant to have, working at home and selling products and services over the Internet - your own and others’.

As a successful executive familiar with what it takes to compete effectively and make money, you’ll find my point of view on making money from the Internet is really quite simple and straightforward - and different than most others. You need a simple, step-by-step process for setting your income goals, finding solid, existing products to sell online that will make you the most money, and then properly advertise them on Google and elsewhere across the Internet.

When you do this, it’s important to ensure you’re turning a great profit; e.g., making an 80% gross profit, by having the right "business model" in place.

Once you learn how to do this on a small scale, you can then simply repeat this exact same process, over and over again creating multiple income streams that’ll just keep making you even more money! More often than not, if you’re selling digital goods over the Internet, once you have things established and producing, it just keeps on making you money - a passive income that’s consistent and completely automated!

Here’s an example. You locate and choose a digital product (there are over 11,000 of them to choose from right away at ClickBank). Next, you select who to target and sell this product to on the Internet. There are some simple ways to go about this, ensuring you pick the best products and reach the right customers.

Next, you place simple text advertisements on Google, Yahoo and other search engines, and then some percentage of people who click on your ads will have a need for the product and will buy it. The reason we know they’ll buy is you should be choosing proven products that are addressing people’s "unmet needs" properly, since they’re already selling well today.

Continuing with the example, the goal is simply to get one initial product selling just one to two units per day at first - making you $50 to $100 a day in affiliate commissions (which adds up quickly to $1,500 to $3,000 per month). That’s it! Well, at least that’s a start…

Next, you just repeat this same process several more times until you have as many digital products selling online as you choose. This means you decide how much money you want to make each month so you can continue to have your work at home job.

If you had 10 average-selling products like what we’ve described here, you’d be making $15,000 to $30,000 per month, part-time at home! There are hundreds of people making this kind of money right now - every day, doing what I’ve just described.

Once you have your that first product selling, you just add more products and additional sources of traffic that will enable you to double or triple your daily income levels. This really is straightforward to do and you don’t even need your own website, since you’re selling other people’s products (they host the website).

What we’ve been talking about here is Internet "affiliate marketing", selling other people’s products over the Web. Learning to leverage the power of the Internet like this will provide you with incredible value you can use for the rest of your life.

It’s a lot easier than you probably think at first. There are a number of really good e-books and courses available that will teach you exactly how to accomplish everything I’ve just described here, so if working at home making great money just part-time sounds intriguing, you should definitely find out more.

Best of luck to you in your life’s endeavors and finding a way to make money and earn your freedom in your own home based job!

Listen up: Clickbank is the hottest opportunity to make large amounts of affiliate sales, quickly and easily… if you know how to use it wisely.

HINT: As every mechanic can tell you, in order to be a good workman, one should have good tools. In order to be a Clickbank super affiliate, the very best affiliate one can be, it is important to have the proper supplies in ones virtual toolbox. Taking time to gather the best supplies can pay off in the end in big dividends, literally. A good merchant will do his or her best to supply their affiliates with the best tools possible and a good affiliate will do the best that they can to gather the best tools available.

A tool such as the clickbank calculator will help you to immediately be able to ascertain exactly what your commission will be on a product. This is further enhanced by the table with the common prices which will help you to see exactly how this sort of thing works and be able to make your own table, using the prices and rates with which you will be dealing with.

An affiliate will want to have a good selection of templates.

This will enable you to make and send out advertising information without having to start at the very beginning each time.

A good merchandiser will supply his or her affiliates with the best tools available. Giving them the best tools will help them to do a better job for the merchandiser as well as for themselves. If an affiliate has a good supply of articles and information concerning the product, this will enable them to write their own articles and email letters and newsletters and to have the proper information right at their finger tips.

Another tool in the super affiliate’s toolbox is a good group email tool. Being able to send out emails to large groups of people who have shown an interest in the product is advantageous and will save time. It is important not to misuse this sort of a tool so that what is sent out becomes spam, then nothing will be appreciated coming from that source and is apt to be immediately deleted without even being glanced at, thereby defeating ones purpose, but used properly, this can be a very good tool to have.

Another tool is a contact list of people who have been interested in becoming affiliates. Sometimes one finds that there are those who are anxious to enter into the cyber work field and might become the affiliate’s competition. Instead, the affiliate might want to consider approaching them with the idea of their joining into his team so that as they are making money he is also. When this is done, it is important that teamwork be emphasized. Team members don’t work against each other; they work together for mutual benefit.

TIP: A good supply of keywords is important also. You will want to attract people to your website that might possibly buy the product. Those people will be using certain keywords as they take advantage of search engines so it’s important that in articles which you write, you will want to include a number of keywords which the potential customer might well be using.

A very useful *free* resource is Good Keywords.

In order to be a Clickbank super affiliate, you will want to have the best equip toolbox possible. Taking the time to assemble such a tool box is important and is the sort of thing that makes the difference between an affiliate and a super affiliate.

The proper tools are as important for an affiliate as they are for a good mechanic, take time to assemble the right ones and a super tool box may soon make you a Clickbank super affiliate.

When two websites start sharing revenue to sell a product or service, it is known as affiliate marketing. Amazon was the world’s first to start large-scale affiliate marketing. Most of the affiliates get paid around 25-50% for sales generated through their websites. Payment is made on the number of clicks, registrations, leads, sales etc or as agreed between the two parties.

When a person clicks on the advertisement on a website the cookie is saved in the person’s computer, which is tracked and if a sale is done then the person gets paid the amount of commission agreed. Anybody having a website which has good number of visitors can join an affiliate program.

There are many affiliate marketing websites through which you can choose the products you would like to promote through your website. Commission Junction, Click bank and Linkshare are some of the well-known affiliate marketing websites. Thousands of publishers join affiliate marketing daily. They want to promote other products or services and start making money. The affiliates get their daily statistics and reports on the number of clicks, sales, leads etc. Affiliate marketing connects buyers and sellers. This is how online marketing works. The amount of money spent online is increasing day by day. E-commerce is picking up at a very fast rate worldwide.

Earlier, in Part One and Two, we talked about the principles and concepts of creating money and that leads to vast wealth. As a refresher, here are the topics again:

1. Knowing Value
2. Practicing Conservatism
3. Paying Yourself First and we touched upon,
4. LEVERAGE and REINVESTMENT

LEVERAGE

Now, I am are going to talk about Number 4., so let’s proceed.

Like a lever that can move large masses very easily and accomplish more in less time, so you too can create wealth faster with leverage than with savings and the practicing of conservatism. Conservatism is not wasting what you have.

Working for an hourly wage is not going to make you wealthy and practicing conservatism would just keep you going on and make ends meet and perhaps live very well. However, you will not amass great wealth.

For that, you need to create leverage. Leverage is the art or technique you can use to create or formulate a system whereby you’ll generate MULTIPLE STREAMS OF INCOME by earning a portion of the revenues generated from projects.

A good example might be as follows:

You wrote a book, and negotiated with your publisher who thinks you have a No. 1 best seller on our hands. He accepts all the risks and finances the publishing of the book and market it on the premise that you collect 10% from gross sales. Whether it is a winner or not, you get your 10% of the gross sales according to contract and all you did was wrote the book. This is a form of leverage. The money you earn from this could well be several times more than you’ll earn in a whole year. This is the power of leverage.

Another example: You created a machine or product — physical or chemical- like a shampoo spray, bathroom cleaner etc., and you arranged with a manufacturer to make it in large quantities and then distribute it to thousands of distributors throughout the country—or the world. Your take in this, like before is, say 1 to 5 percentage of the revenues. By now you can see how easy you can become a multi millionaire from these types of leverage techniques. You’ll never have to work another day in your life if you set up a system like this for yourself. You can learn a new craft, trade, use your inherent talent to create products and services for sale and you will surely come up with a winner if you keep at it.

In a minute I’ll show you how you can set one up for yourself with a little effort on your part. You do not have to create a vehicle to financial success, one is already created for you. All you will have to do is make it work. Well show you how, every step of the way.

This is the real secret to creating great wealth – money to burn etc., or whatever you want to call it. The secret is to put little effort to gain the most output. You’ll learn how to invest in several projects and you’ll see how 20% of your investment will generate 80% profits for you. You work smart, not hard. Work less. Make more.

REINVESTMENT PROGRAM

Now, suppose that you have created a product or service using this leverage system. And, your money in the bank is generating interest upon interest compounded daily, quarterly and yearly. Soon, you’ll have a tax problem. You are earning too much money and Uncle Sam will want his share. You will now have to scratch your head to lower your taxes. Your income will soar to the moon and you will have to seek tax shelter and occupy yourself with protecting your income.

To combat this problem, you will have to find new investment vehicles that will protect your income for many years to come. You will be looking at long term investment funds, Trust funds, Equity Protection funds, reverse mortgages, treasury bonds, gold, silver, and other precious metals, re-investment in large a shopping centers, antiques, art collection and more, just that you protect your current and future income.

But, however you cut it, you will still have to pay Uncle Sam some of it by employing legal Tax Avoidance strategies, despite the creative tax accounting that you may employ.

But, all in all, it is better to have all this money available to live an abundant life and pay Uncle Sam his share, than have to pinch pennies to live and end up in poverty. An easy way to begin

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get into business on the Internet.

What it means is that you affiliate yourself with a company and market their products or services. You don’t have to worry about developing your own product or service, about shipping, billing or credit card clearance, or after-sales service. You don’t even have to explain much about the product…and you should not sell. Leave that part up to the company. All you do is provide a recommendation.

When the person to whom you have made the recommendation visit’s the company’s website, this is where you expect them to receive a thorough and informative sales presentation. If you try to sell, and the company also sells, the result would be overkill and will turn off many potential customers.

Is support there?

And if, in your opinion, the company’s website does not do a good enough job of providing the information necessary to get sales, walk away. Look for a company that will fully support your sales efforts.

To be a successful affiliate marketer, you must develop a list of people who have visited your website, preferably often, and in whom you have fostered trust. People will accept advice from someone they trust, but their defenses are up when it comes to advertisers.

This is one reason companies need affiliates. If you are trusted and you recommend a particular product, it is far easier for the company to make a sale. The potential customer you have recommended comes to them predisposed to buy.

But how do you build trust when the stay of the average visitor on a website is counted in seconds, and sometimes milliseconds? Simple: provide interesting, stimulating content on your site, and keep providing new content frequently, several pages a month. If it’s interesting enough, they will read every word.

Don’t make the mistake of asking people to bookmark your page. They will forget to come back, perhaps permanently. How many of your bookmarked pages do you visit regularly, if at all?

Start a newsletter

Instead, start a monthly newsletter. Tell people very briefly about the new content on your website. Give them just enough information for them to determine if your new material is of interest to them. Provide links to your web pages for those stories that are of interest to them. Give people the right content, and let them know about it through your newsletter, and they will come back.

The more often they come back, the more they will start to trust you and what you tell them. But be careful not to fill your site with affiliate recommendations.

Provide only the information that you think will be helpful to your visitor. Forget about making sales; they will come if you do everything else right. Let them come to understand over time that you are on their side. Isn’t this what you would want in their position?

Your website should be about building friendly relationships with your potential customers. A successful site will be one that puts relationships before sales, others before self. This is not a get-rich-quick proposition. Building trust, online or off, takes time. This is why the get-rich-quick schemes and those who are drawn to them fail.

Remember this, and you will be on your way to building a successful on-line business you can run from the comfort of your own home.
