Many people these days are making some sort of money from affiliate marketing on the internet. The problem is that many of them are promoting the same products from the same websites. They all look the same. The question is, how do you go about being different from the rest? This is especially important to someone who is just starting off in affiliate marketing.

The first, most obvious thing, is to build your own website and get away from the standard site that your affiliate program may provide. Using the same site that is being promoted by many other people promoting the same product is likely to drive customers away as they will know as soon as they land on your site that they have seen it all before. If you send them to your own unique site, they will see something that is fresh and different and they are all the more likely stay on the site to see what it is all about. As you can see, it is very important that you build your own website as soon as you can.

Look at other websites on the internet to get ideas for your own site. There is a lot of information online to help you build websites, much of it free. However, when you do start building your site, do not get carried away and make it too complicated. It is better to keep your site as clear and simple as possible. The main thing to do is to get your message across to your visitors as effectively as possible.

Once you have your own site, it will probably not be long before you find other products and services you want to promote. Having your own site allows you to also offer other products and services to your visitors in addition to your original affiliate product. All of this on one site and in one place. By this means, you can develop multiple income streams over time. However, do make sure that the products you are promoting all complement each other and are relevant to the niche you are promoting.

When writing ads, the same principle applies. Do not use the same standard ads as everyone else promoting your program. Be different, either adapt the standard ad to make it different or create entirely new ones or a combination of both. The idea is to look at the product you are promoting from a slightly different viewpoint and write that into your ad. Look at other ads for similar products that grab your attention and are compelling. To get other ideas, there are plenty of free articles on the web that will educate you on the process of writing ad copy.

As a newbie, you will no doubt be wondering what to put on your own site. This could be anything but what most people surfing the net are looking for is information. All you have to do is provide them with information that is in some way connected with the product or service that you are promoting. The affiliate links that you put on your site should then take your visitors to your affiliate program website which should (hopefully) complete the sale.
