If you’ve searched for a way to make your living online for any amount of time you have found that the options are endless. A quick way to cut the abundance of choice is to decide on an opportunity that offers residual income.

Residual income, also called passive income, is income that continues to be generated after your initial effort is expended. No more earning 40 hours of pay for 40 hours of work. Residual income allows you to leverage your effort. A residual income opportunity can be one of the most powerful ways to earn income.

Before we cover how powerful a residual income opportunity is, let’s look at the facts.

  • 9 out of 10 families require two members of the household to work to meet ends meet
  • The average job pays $24,000/year.
  • 85% of Americans state they would like to own their own business.

If you are in the 85% majority, you are ready to own your own business. A residual income opportunity allows you the ability to work a set amount of hours, but to exponentially grow your income. Let’s look at the power of residual income.

  • Even when you quit working, you keep earning
  • Ability to automate the residual income opportunity and work as little as 15 min. a day
  • Make money while others do the work
  • Flexibility of working from home
  • Enjoy the freedom and income you want

Some referral or reseller associate programs (not related to MLM or network marketing), offer similar opportunities for earning residual income. Also called affiliate programs, these are very popular on the Internet. There are a large number of websites that offer affiliate programs that include residual income.

You need to know what to look for before committing to a residual income program.

  • Matrix system compensation plan – A matrix system can consist of anything from 2×2 – 12×12. This allows you to earn money from other members of your team
  • As few sales as possible to be in profit – Up-front costs should not be overwhelming.
  • Bonus options are a plus!
  • Supplied customizable website
  • Multiple residual income opportunities included
  • Orders are processed and handled for you
  • Email follow-ups provided for you
  • Provides support

Now, not every residual income opportunity is going to provide all of the above.

But, if you want to set yourself up for success a business that has already worked out the details is of great advantage. You are free to focus on making money rather than designing a website, creating emails and driving traffic to your site.

Residual income is definitely a powerful means to make a living. Imagine the ability to duplicate, triplicate or quadruplicate your efforts. A Residual income opportunity allows you to do this and more. With careful research the perfect opportunity will present itself and you will be on your way to living the life of your dreams.

Now that you’ve started learning about Affiliate Marketing, you may have come across another term that’s a bit new to you: Affiliate Networks. So what are they?

In short, an affiliate network is a third party service, that allows you to sign up for, manage, and earn from many affiliate programs all at once. That’s a bit of a mouthful so I’ll break it down further.

Let’s say you want to earn money by promoting exercise equipment. So you start looking around the web to find good affiliate programs in this market. You quickly find there are hundreds of them.

Now if these were all independant affiliate programs, you’d have to sign up for each one individually. This means if you wanted to promote 25 different merchants who sell exercise equipment, you’d have to fill out 25 separate affiliate applications, manage 25 different website logins and passwords, and you’d receive 25 different checks once you started earning money.

To make matters worse, you’d have to deal with the individual restrictions with each one as well. So if each program required you to earn $50 before they sent your commission payments, it could take quite awhile to earn enough from each one to receive your checks.

And that’s the major appeal of affiliate networks. When you use a network, you sign up once. You have one application to fill out, and one login to manage. In most cases, you also receive just one combined payment as well. But you can sign up for hundreds of different merchant affiliate programs through the one affiliate network. Then even if you only earn $5 commission from each merchant, the total amount earned is combined for you into one payment.

Now an important note: Not all affiliate networks combine earnings from all of your affiliated merchants. Most of the big ones do though, and this is where you need to do your research before signing up. It’s much easier to get an affiliate marketing business off the ground when you can have all earnings combined together, so read the terms of service and make sure they do this before deciding to join.

Affiliate Networks use a variety of methods mostly Tracking or Referral Codes and Cookies.

Referral Codes:

This is a unique code that is attached to the end of a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) in the link from your website to the Merchant’s website. This code will identify you, via your Affiliate Group Account, as being the referring agent who is entitled to Commission for any purchase made by the Customer. For example, if the Merchant’s website URL was http://www.leasebackschemes.co.uk then the link you would use might look like this www.leasebackschemes.co.uk/affilate.asp?id=12555, where 12555 is your Account Number with that particular Affiliate Group.

The problem with using Referral Codes by themselves is that if the Customer does not buy anything during that visit to the Merchant website but returns later on, via a different route, to purchase something then you will not get credit for the referral. To get around this some Merchants log Customer’s IP (Internet Protocol) Addresses with the Referral Code so when the Customer returns later on they know who made the initial referral. But there are still problems with this as some people have a Dynamic IP Address, which means it changes every time they sign on to the internet.

Cookies:

A Cookie is a very small piece of information that a website puts on your computer so that it can remember something about you at a later time. What this means is that you are still credited as the referral agent even if the Customer visits a Merchant website and then goes away, but returns later on by going directly to the Merchant’s website and not by clicking through from your website. Most Cookies are set to remain active for a period of time, like 30 days or maybe 90 days, in some extreme cases Cookies are set to remain active for 9,999 days! However, some Merchants use what are called Session Only Cookies, this means that they only remain active for the duration of the Customer’s current visit to their site.

Whichever method is used, you must remember that some (few) Merchants are only interested in paying you Commission if an immediate purchase is made, i.e. during the Customer’s current visit to their site. On the other hand, most Merchants are happy to pay you Commission for the lifetime of the Customer or lifetime of the cookie (say 99 days), so no matter when they return or how much they buy you will still get Commission on every sale. The details of what each Merchant will pay is usually listed in the Merchant Program on the Affiliate Group’s website. These details can often affect which Merchants you chose to take on and display on your website.

When most beginners start an affiliate marketing business, they don’t realize how important cash flow is. And they don’t always realize how the cash flows in and out of their business on a day to day basis.

This is an important concept to grasp if you want to be successful in business though, so let’s look at the issue in detail.

Cash flow is simply the amount of cash you have going in or out of your business at any given time. The term "cash" in this instance is actually available money - whether it’s in your bank account, PayPal account, or actual cash in hand doesn’t matter. What matters is what you actually have available to spend.

Now many new affiliate marketers will spend money to get their affiliate marketing activities off the ground. They’ll spend money on advertisements, setting up new websites, or hiring other professionals to do various tasks.

The problem though, is they don’t realize how long it might be before cash starts flowing IN from their affiliate marketing efforts.

A common scenario is this: The new affiliate signs up for a program which pays every two weeks. So they start marketing - and spending money - based on the assumption they’ll have more money in hand in two weeks. That’s not exactly how it works though…

You see, there’s a built in lag period between money earned and money in hand. If you’ve joined an affiliate program that pays every two weeks, it could be up to 4 weeks before you see the actual earnings in your hand.

Let’s say for instance, you join an affiliate network like Clickbank which sends your earnings every two weeks. And let’s further say you $100 in commission on the 1st day of the month. Now since Clickbank pays out every two weeks, anything you earn between the 1st and the 15th of the month will be paid all together on one check. But that check will not actually be mailed to you until the 1st of the following month. So the $100 you earned on the first won’t actually be in your hands for 4 weeks.

Now the good part of this of course, is any sales you make on the 15th of the month. Since that’s when the pay period cut off time is, any commissions earned on the 15th will be mailed to you on the check sent the 1st of the next month. In other words: In two weeks.

As you’ve probably realized already, this problem becomes much more severe with affiliate programs and networks that pay out once each month. Several of the biggest pay on the 20th of each month for instance… but they’re paying you for commissions earned in the previous month.

So anything earned in the month of December for instance - regardless of how early or late in the month you earned those commissions - won’t actually show up in your hands until almost the end of January.

Cash flow is important in all businesses, but it can make or break a new affiliate marketing business. So be sure to realistically take this into account when growing your business, so you’ll be able to continue growing for the long term instead of having to quit early due to lack of spendable cash.

Signing up with survey and market research companies and taking online paid surveys is not the only way to make money with surveys.

Creating your own surveys list using affiliate links can be prove to be less time consuming and more profitable. You will make money when others sign up to take surveys through your affiliate referral links.

To do this, create your own Top 25 Paid Surveys List. Let me show you, it’s really quite simple to do.

5 Steps to your own surveys referral site:

  1. Create a new web page for your Top 25 Surveys List. Use one of your own web page templates or create a new one using your preferred method.
  2. Sign up and become an affiliate. Some of the best affiliate program networks to sign up for that have quality and profitable survey offers are: MaxBounty, OffersQuest, Incentaclick, Clickbooth and GoZingNetwork. You can earn anywhere from $1.00 to $3.75 or so every time someone clicks on one of your links and signs up with a new survey or market research company.
  3. Select and list survey offers. Select and list the highest paying survey offers from your affiliate programs and link to them using your affiliate referral text links or banners. A working example can be found here. Once you have put together your new web page, upload it to your server.
  4. Promote your new Top 25 Surveys List. You can link to your Top 25 Surveys List from your home page and/or other website and/or blog pages. Or, maybe you will want to use it as a pop-up or Thank You page. And, do not forget to include a link to it as part of your Signature lines in emails, forum and blog posts.
  5. Update your list. Be sure to update and make changes to your Top 25 Surveys List as needed. It’s always a good idea to login to your affiliate accounts at least once per week to check for campaign updates, new campaigns and campaign removals.

As you can see, in addition to taking paid surveys yourself, you can make even more money by referring others to take paid surveys too. A few dollars here and there can ad up quickly.

Affiliate marketing tools are the strategies and procedures to follow so that your website attracts maximum customers and earns revenue. Innovative marketing ideas are the key to success in this regard.

Designing of the web page is a significant factor. Banners, pop-ups and text links are the common advertising patterns. Banners are attractive tools for drawing the attention of prospective customers. Simple banners are often more effective than showy ones because flashy, graphic banners take a long time to download. It is ideal that banner links open in a new window. Pop-ups and pop-unders are popular marketing tools; however, some visitors may find these rather irksome.

Reviews of the products you are advertising are effective marketing tools. A well written review is sure to tempt the visitor to visit the related website. A good review can often result in a sale. To write an honest and inspiring review, you have to be thoroughly familiar with the product and believe what you are writing. Besides reviews, text link ads are other excellent marketing tools. E-mail advertising with adding the web site URL to every message is an efficient marketing strategy. Combining the e-mail with the ad article is more attractive. Software for e-mail promotion can also be used. Internet marketing forums and internet marketing e-zines act as effective marketing tools.

Use of web promotion software also helps to get your site listed in search engines such as Google, AltaVista etc. Signing up with affiliate associate marketing programs is a good idea. Newsletters and online discussion groups are other means of promotion.

Affiliate marketing tools and strategies have to be updated to keep up with recent developments in the market. Participation in the affiliation summits helps this. Several courses, tutorials and books are available for guidance in affiliate marketing.

Affiliate provides detailed information on Affiliate, Affiliate Programs, Affiliate Marketing, Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs and more. Affiliate is affiliated with Affiliate Marketing Programs.

“Do you want to be a millionaire, no a billionaire? This hour? This very minute!” These questions beg people to ponder about their futures and stir emotions that would normally lay dormant is most people. It creates a situation of want and hope for a better future that would drive someone to purchase a certain product or service that would satisfy the situations mentioned earlier.

The internet being the medium of fastest and easiest communication of our era, the average internet users is faced with questions like these almost everyday where numerous internet gurus would profess to lead the user to internet money making utopia by having users simply reading and following their prescribed methodologies in their e-books. It is almost impossible for the average internet user to differentiate the good, the bad and the ugly.

There is however one defining factor that all these potential “gurus” tell their users in that the process of earning money from the internet is easy and can be done by almost anybody. These gurus would tell their potential clients that spending a mere few hundred dollars could potentially earn them millions per year.

Looking at it purely from a logical point of view, it is obvious that something does not quite fit into place. It can’t possibly be so easy for everyone to make millions on the internet. The missing link that the majority of internet gurus fail to communicate is the level of determination and sheer hard work that is necessary to build-up an profitable internet portal. If anybody states otherwise, please feel free to put a smelly sock in their mouth!

It is important that the fledging internet entrepreneur must approach any possible internet venture or online money making idea with this level of comprehension. The strange thing that we have discovered is that with most "follow my lead and make money" program, most if not all of the methods prescribed are actually true and do really work in the real world, the actual Truth! If you follow it step-by-step, word-for-word the determined and disciplined internet entrepreneur can and will eventually earn a very good living.

The bump in the road is, most gurus will prescribe their methods in a very simplistic way to make it seem easy, but make no mistake, if the entrepreneur truly wants to make money online as a e-business, not a freelancer, he/she must invest a small amount of money (very small compared to brick and mortar businesses anyway) and some time to actually understand the whole process and make a success of it.

Rick Jerk’s book is one such e-book which although seems extremely high-level at first, the internet entrepreneur who follows his steps to the dot will eventually succeed. He provides you with all the tools to actually succeed online, however he gives it to you with a sledge hammer on the head.

Research suggests that only 10% of all the people who buy the “internet money making to-dos” e-book would actually implement its methods to earn money. This is definitely not their fault! Many people buy these e-books plainly for the "hope" factor, the hope for a better future, but aren’t disciplined enough to follow through and put in the hard hours and brain power to see it succeed.

Bearing in mind that with a good e-book, the path is already set, it is synonymous to having a “map” to a jungle, very few people with this “map” will actually attempt to track the jungle, but those that do try will most probably succeed based on the fact that the map is correct and the user of the map has enough drive and determination to see the track through. The other 90% would just be happy to have this “map” and say to themselves that should they wish to track the jungle, they have the tools necessary to succeed but in the end never actually attempt it.

If the internet entrepreneur is determined to make a success of the internet, e-books like Rich Jerks will be invaluable in their ability to show you the way to the money. The only caution is that before taking the step to buy the e-books, potential internet entrepreneurs must know where they stand, do they just want “hope” or are they really determined to see it through to the very end and see the fruits of their work.

Ryan Parker critiques the Rich Jerk and looks at who will benefit most from his e-book. Free info at: http://www.richjerkscams.com
